Advantages: Great listening
Disadvantages: none
Do you believe they put a man on the moon , yeah yeah yeah if you believe , Oh you are there sorry I was singing along to the CD my hubby just put on . Thought I would writet about it.
The CD is R E M, In time the best of REM 1988 -2003. R E M is a band formed in 1980 an American rock band from Athens Georgia. I like their music, saw them live at Glastonbury one year.
The band is Michael Stipe who fronts the band and Peter Buck, Mike Mills and Bill Berry (he left 1997) You may know them from Shiny happy people their first uk top ten hit 1991 I think .However Shiny Happy people is not on this cd
The tracks on this cd are 1 man on the moon, 2 The great beyond, 3 Bad bad day, 4 Whats the frequency Kenneth, 5 All the way to Reno, 6 losing my religion, 7 Bow the letter, 8 Orange crush, 9 Imitation of life, 10 Day sleeper, 11 Animal .12 The side winder sleeps tonight,13 Stand Stand, 14 Electrolite, 15 All the right friends; 16 Everybody hurts, 17At my most beautiful,18 Night Swimming.
Apart from a couple of omissions this cd is I think a good one with examples of their work through out the period 88-03.
Some of their songs and tunes are happy joyous up lifting rock, but others just like everybody hurts really rip your body with emotion make it hurt makes me feel like crying.
Micheal Stipes vocals on all the tracks is magnificent. There is some very good guitar work too. The drumming is good.
I think REM’s music will “live for a long time and this Cd is a good sample of their music”
Summary: Some iof R E M's best music from 1988 -2003

- 24/08/06 I simply adore REM, although, being of a certain age, I think their earliest work, i.e, 'Green' was their very best x |
