... the blend of hard drumming and quite melodic guitar rhythms is very powerful and turns it into a fantastic song. Another incredible song from the electric CD is DOA, it is very catchy, a bit rockier than best of you in terms of pace, and perhaps a bit more commercial, a very Catchy chorus, along with some great lyrics and some great guitar as well as drumming too. The first song off the soft acoustic side of the album still is a great one, it seems strange at first that your listening to the foo fighters as their ac...more

Premium Review In Your Honour - Foo Fighters: We're Getting The Best Of Them!! (733 words)

Rating:

**THE BAND** Foo Fighters are an American rock/grunge band from Seattle, USA. They formed back in 1995 and have held there position in the limelight from then and have never faded out. Vocalist, Dave Grohl has a completely unique voice perfectly suited to the grunge style of Foo Fighters. The songs are usually quite heavy often with huge choruses but the band are also well suited to softer acoustic numbers which is one of the qualities that make them so appealing to so many people. The members of Foo Fighters are: Dave Grohl (vocals, rhythm guitar), Nate Mendel (bass guitar), Taylor Hawkins (drums, backing vocals), and Chris Shiflett (lead guitar, backing vocals). ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Is Someone Getting the Best of You? (623 words)

'In Your Honor' is the fifth studio album from the American rock band that is the Foo Fighters. The album was released in 2005 and consists of twenty tracks spread over two discs of music. The fact that you get over an hour and twenty minutes of music here is really rather excellent; the music that you get isn't always great, you definitely get a lot of it though. £5.47 is the current price at Amazon; fantastic value for money? I think so. The album is packed full of hard hitting guitar riffs, excellent drum work, and the fantastic vocal tone of one Dave Grohl also. 'Best of You' was the lead single here and most definitely this is one of the finest tracks ...  Read the complete review

Performer – Foo Fighters. The Album – In Your Honour. Released 2005 on the BMG record label. 82876 701932 £9.77 from Morrison’s. Ah, at last, some loud, hard, rock to wrap around my lugs. After several reviews of American acoustica albums I was starting to get withdrawal symptoms. Yes indeedy, let’s crank up the death decks and wake up hell itself. Then bugger me, along comes this twin set and half of it’s acoustic. Oh well, in for a penny, in for a pound as we say here at Farting Manor. What’s a Foo Fighter then? For those of you who still don’t know, I’ll tell you. It was the name give by American aircrew to UFO’s that ...  Read the complete review

If there’s one thing you can count on with the Foo Fighters it’s that they’re consistent. Since Dave Grohl stepped out from behind the drums in Nirvana he has never looked back and delivered countless rock tunes that are of the highest quality. The 1995 self-titled debut was a very rough affair, featuring some fine grunge anthems. It was dirty, stripped down and frankly great. Since then the sound of the band has evolved, become more polished and more accessible to all. So the announcement that the latest album would be a double affair was met with great excitement. Would the Foo Fighters be able to pull off a rock album to rival something like The Smashing ...  Read the complete review

In your honour is the fifth studio album from the foo fighters, im my opinion its their best simply because of all the different songs it give you. There are two disks and all the songs on the second are acoustic which is great are they are amazing acoustic and non acoustic. The album features many hit singles and all of the songs are pretty good. My favourite song from the electric side of the album, and probably my favourite song of all time from the foo fighters is best of you. The first time I heard it I was completely blown away and every time I listen to it now it still really moves me. The singing combines with the blend of hard drumming and quite ...  Read the complete review

High tempo social commentary put to an indi music back drop It ends

Their most complete recording yet, a good progression of Without You I'm Nothing A couple of the singles stink bad, including Meds which was a poor opening song

Brilliant, a return to their rock roots One or two weak links, but only a preference thing, see review

You get 2 Cd's for the price of one Have stereophonics lost the edge they once had

An exellent return to form and an album that really restores their image Even further from the Oasis of old
