Santi - The Academy Is ... is the follow-up album to Almost Here by the The Academy Is... The album kicks off with Same Blood which is very generic. There is a notable difference forming after just one song between this and their last album Almost Here. The opening of LAX to O Hare is good, but after 30 seconds it gets boring. Next is We ve Got A Big Mess On Our Hands - yes, yes you have. It s catchy though. Sleeping With Giants (Lifetime) - Utterly boring Everything We Had is the poorest song on the album. It s supposed to be a raw song, yet sounds so far from the raw sound of their first album. Bulls In Brooklyn - Not a fan. Neighbours is one of the few strong songs on t... Boxer - The National ... is my favourite band of the moment and one of my most listened to CD s! The National are a brilliant Indie/Rock/Alternative band and their music is truly addictive and I guarantee after this album you will be hooked! The first thing you will notice about this band is the singers voice. His voice is unusually deep, almost bass. It is warm and gravelly and kind of dream like in its tones. His voice carries you through the album in a comforting and melancholy way. For me, this album had a similar impact to the first time I heard Portishead s Dummy album. War All The Time - Thursday ... s" third album "War all the time" is one of their best albums yet, considering the amazing lyrics, instrumental parts and just overall sound. It was released in 2003 and has to be one of the greatest albums released in that year. If you re looking for something completely different from the normal American post-hardcore band, than you ve found it with this incredible album. Normally you can name your favourite songs from an album straight away and decide if you like the song at first listen. But not with this album.
