Beyond My Grey Wake - How Like a Winter ... only album released thus far by Italian doom metal band How Like a Winter is an impressive and evocative debut, but one that can t escape the shadow of its obvious influences from the likes of My Dying Bride in particular, accentuated by the strong violin presence that succeeds in making the songs more emotional. Rooted in the death-doom style, this is nevertheless lighter than the British doom leaders, with many gothic elements that keep it more accessible, albeit not to the extent of mainstream metal bands. The violin and guitar more or less take it in turns to lead the way with slow, memorable melodies, and while the death metal growls may sound out of place to ne... Fever To Tell - Yeah Yeah Yeahs ... first discovered Yeah Yeah Yeahs through thier song Maps and was struck by it s concise yet effective and extremely emotional musical language. I immediatly thought these guys know what they re doing, have faith in what they re doing...and do it . Admirable. I rushed out and bought the album and listened to it though many times. I was excited, I was re-freshed. It was great to hear a band with imagination beyond chord progressions, drum clumping, over-production and sparing me the lack of genuine honesty that alot of musicians suffer from. Futures - Jimmy Eat World ... Adkins is the vocalist and lead guitarist of the Jimmy Eat World, with Tom Linton on Rhythm guitar. Rick Burch is on bass. Zach Lind keeps the smashing beats on drums. Futures is their fifth studio album. There is a good mixture of songs on this album, some songs are fast and some are slow, but all seem to have a lot of thought and passion behind them. Futures , Pain & 23 my favourites on the album, with Drugs Or Me & Polaris being my least favourites. This album is a must for every music fan. It album kicks off with the title song.
