When Papa Roach's music first infested my brain, I thought oh great, another Limp Bizkit wannabe. But their music is actually much deeper than that, and evokes many inner feelings and gets you thinking about your life. Do you really want to throw it all away? They address many societal issues including drug abuse, depression, human relationships, and suicide. They provoke many thoughts about what you want to do with yourself. Some of their songs can depress you (Snakes, Binge), while others can inspire you (Last Resort, Infest). And they all will trigger some forgotten emotion inside of you. The main theme of their CD is that drinking, drugs, ... Read the complete review

As I start to write an opinion on Infest, I must write a little or a lot on the band it’s self, so here is my little shrine to the American Rockers. Papa Roach is made of four band members. They were formed in 1993 when friends, Coby Dick, Jerry Horton, Dave Buckner and Tobin Esperance. They originate from Vacaville in California and were influenced by the likes of Primus. The genre for the music they produce is nu-metal, which is really a mix of Hip-Hop, groove-funk and Hardcore. Trust me these guys are amazing! So, the debut album Infest on what I’m meant to be writing about here. I am sitting here and I know of course every song off by ... Read the complete review

"Infest" is Papa Roach's first major-label album and was released in 2000. Three singles were released of the album, "Broken Home", "Angels & Insects" and most notably "Last Resort". The album earned Papa Roach a Grammy Nomination for best New Artist. I had only first heard Papa Roach through their recent single "Lifeline" which I liked so I thought I would check them out. And what better place to start, than their debut album? It was released nearly 10 years ago now so you can pick it up for pretty cheap. I hadn't really listened to Papa Roach before so I didn't really know what to expect, but I was ... Read the complete review

Like the majority of all of the Nu Metal bands that began to spring up in the early 2000s, Papa Roach have faded into obscurity near enough now - they rode the coat-tails of the immensely successful song Last Resort, but have never really recaptured that same kind of furore. It's sad, because their debut album, Infest was actually a very good and emotive, grungey album. Of course, adding Rap to the Metal/Rock scene is very divisive indeed, and people like Fred Durst show how it can be totally botched. Lead singer Coby Dick, though, has a far greater finger on the pulse, and these songs, whilst "emo" by some standards, are full of anger and angst, but ... Read the complete review

"Infest" came in 2000 as the second album from the Nu-Metal band, Papa Rach. It was their first big label release, which had them spread their Californian sound to a worldwide audience. The group are made up Jacoby Shaddix (also known as Coby Dick), Jerry Horton, Tobin Esperance, Tony Palermo, and David Buckner. Coby, the lead singer, and founder drives the Alternative sound of the group, as the rest provide the general Metal sound, whereas he gives it the twist, which was popular from the late nineties to early on in the 2000s, as he raps as well as doing the normal Rock singing. The Nu-Metal movement was deeper than simply rapping over Metal, and these can ... Read the complete review
