... and of 'Gorjila' Bassist Joe Duplantier, Igor and Max Cavalera bring together a new sound unique to Cavalera Conspiracy and Inflikted. Heavy, Entertaining and containing elements of Sepultura's earlier sound, mixed with the Legendary vocals styles of Max make this a great album for past fans of Sepultura and Soulfly, but even makes a great album to start with for people new to the genre. Heavy metal mixed with some melodic sounds and aggressive vocals. So far one single has been released and a video for the song ...more

Inflikted - Cavalera Conspiracy: RETURN OF THE KINGS (501 words)
by Soundbomb - written on 16/04/08
Rating:

Inflikted is Max and Igor Cavalera's first collaboration since 1996's Roots (which saw Max leaving the legendary Sepultura and the brothers embroiled in a 12 year feud, during which they did not speak a single word to each other). Needless to say, expectations are high for this album. The good news is that, for hard-core metalheads, the Conspiracy do not disappoint. Joined by Gojira bassist Joe Duplantier and Soulfly guitarist Marc Rizzo, vocalist/guitarist Max and (undisputedly one of the finest drummers around) Igor tear through 11 tracks of unbridled, unrelenting, face shredding brutality. Gone are the tribal breakdowns and ambient instrumentals, which ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Inflikted (257 words)

Old-school Sepultura fans will either be delighted or disappointed by this recent reunion between the Cavalera brothers, as it effectively sounds just like that other band's material pre-'Roots,' which I suppose was the general idea all along (and will please those fans who are of the opinion that bands' material should never be allowed to vary). Sepultura was never the same after Max Cavalera's departure, following a disappointing groove metal direction in the vein of Pantera and all the other metal bands that inexplicably slowed down in the mid-nineties, and Max's work in Soulfly wasn't much better. Sadly, this album fails to ignite a new spark for his ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Inflikted - Cavalera Conspiracy: They're back (290 words)

This was a much awaited album this year, particularly in my household. The first time in 12 years, that the Cavalera brothers would colaborate having gone their own ways. It was often suggested they would never re-unite but many people hoped! I think that people got exactly what they wanted as well, Inflikted doesn't really have a new twist on it at all, in fact you might as well be unaware that either artist had tried anything different over the last decade or so. This was actually a pleasant surprise for me, I thought it would be different in some way but this album sounds like early Sepultura in their prime and as I wasn't too keen on the later sounds nor ...  Read the complete review

The Cavalera name is close to legendary in the metal world with Max Cavalera being quoted as "the Bob Marley of Metal" and both the brothers success from the legendary heavy metal band 'Sepultura', so there were high expectations for their Album. The best elements of post-metal in one package. Offers nothing of its own.

Heavy, Great to listen to None!

Keeping the classic prog metal spirit alive through imitation. Focus on commercial ballads is disappointing.

Gets stuck in your head Gets stuck in your head

Diverse, half acoustic, half electric A bit dated

Fun thrash-death metal. Like a less good version of The Haunted.
