As a huge fan of the Australian soap Neighbours I always tend to buy albums when stars of the show release them. Sometimes the albums are strong, other times the music is disastrous and I end up wishing that I really hadn't bothered. In the case of Delta Goodrem I had already heard her perform one of the tracks from this album several times on Neighbours, I was greatly looking forward to giving this album a listen and was actually really quite excited when this 'Innocent Eyes' album was released. The album was released through Epic Records in 2003; the music is piano based with the stunning voice of Delta Goodrem layered brilliantly atop of the beautiful backdrop of the ... British pop history is littered with the failed careers of Australian soap stars. Of them all, only Kylie Minogue has really shown any longevity, thanks largely to her Madonna-esque reinventions. Jason Donovan fell in with the wrong crowd and didn't really go anywhere once his associations with Kylie and Stock-Aitken-Waterman were over, although his reappearance on the London stage suggests he can sing a little. Dannii Minogue suffered from being in the shadow of her more talented sister, and Holly Valance seems to have vanished faster than the director of her "Kiss Kiss" video said "OK, you can put your clothes back on now" So, into ... Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Natalie Imbruglia, Holly Valance, Stephanie Mcintosh... Neighbours is well known for spewing out popstars by the bucketload but Delta Goodrem is in a whole new league to all that have come before her. Like many people in the UK I first noticed her during an episode of the soap opera. She was performing the single "Born To Try" and I was shocked a few weeks later when I found out that the single had been released here in the UK. "Innocent Eyes" is one of the most successful Australian albums of all time and whilst in recent years success has dwindled outside of her home country Goodrem continues to dominate ... Delta first started her career at the age of 7, doing TV commercials and Australian TV shows., but music was her real passion, at the age of 12, she even recorded a demo album. Sony finally signed her at the age of 15. She finally released her first song in the UK, shortly after her 18th birthday. Although it had already hit the number 1 spot in Australia, although it did only reach number 3 in the UK charts. The song listing ---------------------- 1) Born To Try (4.13) “But you’ve got to make choices, be wrong or right, sometimes you got to sacrifice the things you like, but I was born to try”. This was the ... Read the complete review

This was the first Delta Goodrem that I heard so it was my introduction to her music. It is still one of my favourite albums and I regularly play some of the tracks on my iPod. In this review, I am going to pick out a few of my favourite tracks from the album. ***Born To Try*** This was the first song from Delta that really caught my attention. It is a fairly slow song with piano backing. Delta's vocals on this track sound quite pure and she manages to get some degree of power into her vocals without sounding like she is oversinging. ***Innocent Eyes*** This is a slightly faster track than Born To Try and ventures more into mid-tempo ...
