Advantages: The music is beautiful, the vocal talent of Delta Goodrem truly is exceptional.

Disadvantages: I fail to think of any.

As a huge fan of the Australian soap Neighbours I always tend to buy albums when stars of the show release them. Sometimes the albums are strong, other times the music is disastrous and I end up wishing that I really hadn't bothered. In the case of Delta Goodrem I had already heard her perform one of the tracks from this album several times on Neighbours, I was greatly looking forward to giving this album a listen and was actually really quite excited when this 'Innocent Eyes' album was released. The album was released through Epic Records in 2003; the music is piano based with the stunning voice of Delta Goodrem layered brilliantly atop of the beautiful backdrop of the keys. Fourteen tracks feature on this album, the fact that six of which were released commercially as singles I feel speaks volumes. This album is packed full of quality and never is there a dull moment here, always the sound created by Delta Goodrem is greatly impressive here and not once does this album disappoint.

The album begins with 'Born To Try', straight away the magnificent voice of Delta Goodrem shines through and instantly the music impacts upon you. This is a powerful track, a terrific way to begin this album and is in fact the start of something truly special. This is an epic ballad of a track, the music is beautiful and really sets the standard for the rest of this 'Innocent Eyes' album. Constantly throughout this release the music is kept up at this exceptional level of excellence. Right from the offset this album is brilliant, never does the music of Delta Goodrem fail to impress here and always her voice is central to the sensational nature of this 'Innocent Eyes' album.

Title track 'Innocent Eyes' is without doubt my favourite song from this album, it always has been and never do I tire of hearing this track. Everything about the 'Innocent Eyes' track pleases me greatly; the lyrics are excellent, the melody magnificent, and every element of the track just seems to come together seamlessly. The sound created here truly is stunning; the song was composed by Delta Goodrem and Vince Pizzinga and is I feel one of the greatest pop songs ever written. There's just something about the music here that pleases me every time I hear it, it's a truly exquisite piece of music and for me the voice of Delta Goodrem sounds greater than ever here.

'Not Me, Not I' is another excellent song from this album and was in fact one of the six released as a single. This was the fourth released, it followed on from 'Innocent Eyes' and preceded 'Predictable'. The music is again absolutely beautiful, everything about the sound created here just seems to fit together perfectly and listening to this track therefore provides for an intensely enjoyable experience. This track is beautifully created and crafted, it was actually co-written by a combination of five different people. Gary Barlow is one of the men to have worked on this track, a man who has more than proven himself as a songwriter over the years with his work for Take That and beyond. The five that worked on this track clearly did a great job together, Delta Goodrem being one of them and therefore showing her great talent here not only as a performer but as a songwriter also.

'Lost Without You' is an incredibly hard hitting pop ballad from this album. The music here is as excellent as ever, the voice of Delta Goodrem is absolutely magnificent and the track is pulled off to perfection in every department. Musically the track is incredibly strong here, vocally 'Lost Without You' is beautiful and never here does Delta Goodrem seem to put a note wrong. The track clocks in at just past the four minute mark, always the music here impacts hugely and never is the sound created anything short of sensational.

On an album as excellent as this you know that a song must be brilliant when it stands out so strongly as 'Predictable'. Despite the title, this track is by no means predictable and is in fact a fantastic piece of music. The voice of Delta Goodrem comes belting across here, the performance is full of fiery passion and each and every line is sung with terrific energy and bite. This is more of a pop rock song than anything else, a strong track which is put across finely both vocally and instrumentally also. Right from the opening note this track is excellent, it begins with the light sound of the piano and gradually builds into something far bigger and bolder. This is definitely another of my favourite tracks from this release, 'Innocent Eyes' as an album has plenty to offer and this track particularly is extremely strong.

'My Big Mistake' begins with an energetic piano introduction, quickly develops and before long the voice of Delta Goodrem comes blasting. The lyrics are not the greatest here that this album has to offer, the track is incredibly catchy however and this is therefore a strong song from this album. The instrumental element of the music is incredibly well put together and never does the voice of Delta Goodrem ever disappoint me. Such a talented singer is Delta Goodrem, always her voice possesses a great beauteous quality and throughout this 'Innocent Eyes' album her great vocal talent comes across terrifically. From start to finish here the vocal performance of Delta Goodrem is what stands out so strongly about this 'Innocent Eyes' album, the instrumental element of the music is well worked but it is definitely the voice that makes this album so special.

Although it begins quite bizarrely, 'Running Away' is another terrific track from this album. The musical backing is brilliant, Delta Goodrem smashes her way through a hugely impressive vocal performance and not once does this track ever disappoint. This one is extremely well structured, the lyrics are strong and everything about the music here makes this song stand out as special. This is the shortest track on the album at only three minutes and twenty two seconds in length; it is however another one of the best ones here and the track builds absolutely brilliantly. The track is followed by 'A Year Ago Today' and once more the music of this Australian artist impresses hugely. The vocal performance of Delta Goodrem is extremely central here, the music is almost background noise and the voice of the performer is very much what this track is all about. The voice of Delta Goodrem alone is enough to provide for an exceptional listening experience, the finely crafted musical excellence throughout this release further adds to the brilliance of the 'Innocent Eyes' album however and makes for an extremely well rounded and entirely perfect fourteen tracks of music.

'Will You Fall For Me' is the track that is given the tough job of bringing this 'Innocent Eyes' album to a close. The music here is brilliant, a fine way for the album to reach its climax and most certainly this is a track that is well worth listening to. The track was written solely by Delta Goodrem, the piano work here truly is amazing and the talent of this artist really shines through here. Only this track and 'In My Own Time' did Delta Goodrem compose alone, all others were co-written but this track really shows that she has writing talent in her own right. Delta Goodrem does not rely entirely on the writing talent of others on this 'Innocent Eyes' album, her own personal creative excellence is vast and this is something that is most certainly shown with this 'Will You Fall For Me' closing track.

This 'Innocent Eyes' album truly is excellent, never does the talent of Delta Goodrem cease to amaze me here and always the music displayed on this album is incredibly well put together and an absolute joy to listen to. Fourteen tracks are included here, all of which are of an astonishing quality and never is the voice of Delta Goodrem anything but beautiful. Such sensational talent is shown by the Australian solo recording artist on this album, her voice is simply stunning from start to finish here and this album is therefore a fifty eight minute display of absolute aural excellence. Delta Goodrem is an incredibly talented artist I feel, always on this 'Innocent Eyes' album the music is incredibly well put together both instrumentally and vocally in order to provide for one of my favourite album releases of recent years. For those that do not already own this album then I thoroughly recommend investing in it, you'll surely not be disappointed with what you hear here and the music will I feel impress and enthral you greatly.

Summary: 'Innocent Eyes' is an incredible album from Delta Goodrem, one that I highly recommend investing in.
