Red Medicine - Fugazi

Premium Review the weirdest record i have ever heard (673 words)
by jon_davies - written on 11/05/03 (Very useful, 144 readings)
Rating:

recorder. i know, like me, i was thinking 'what the f*?' then it goes into the light poppy tune 'do you like me?', which i tihnk is not a classic Fugazi song, but its still better than some punk rock you see on the market. then onto 'bed fro the scraping' which is THE funkiest fugazi song i've heard. the gutiar riff that comes in after the first verse is amazing, then it goes into a standard rock song, before fugazi go a bit, well, fugazi. 'latest disgrace' is a kind of depressive feeling song, but its still perfectly viable as a song, its not grunge depression, kind of radiohead depression, but with its roots stuck in emo. ...

Steady Diet Of Nothing - Fugazi

Premium Review A reinvention of their sound (441 words)
by clunkified - written on 08/02/02 (Useful, 125 readings)
Rating:

date this album had been released had been a different blend of punk rock: faster more straightforward, anthemic tunes with somewhat conventional arrangements. With "Steady Diet of Nothing" we see Fugazi demonstrate their ability to reinvent themselves and push their sound further, an ability they've proven on every subsequent release. "Steady Diet of Nothing" is abstract. It is a much more sparse and lean effort than had been previously been heard on previous EPs and their "Repeater" LP. There is almost a Steve Albini quality to the dry production where it's nothing but a raw, distorted guitar flat in the mix. It sounds ...

Premium Review 'Steady Diet Of Nothing' by Fugazi (120 words)
by eraserhead - written on 26/07/00 (Useful, 48 readings)
Rating:

Fugazi try hard. They don't make three-chord-pop-punk, but write tight, complex, dischordant rock. A bit like Sonic Youth, but not as wanky. There's lots of discontent here, but it's more Ginsberg than Rotton. At times it does verge on teenage-angst poetry ("Reached out and touched them on a TV screen, ...
