Advantages: Pretty much everything.
Disadvantages: Couple of average songs.
"International Superhits" is a compilation of Green Day songs from the albums: "Dookie","Insomniac","Nim rod" and "Warning". It contains all the hits from them four albums as well as two unreleased songs.
Devoted Green Day fans will probably stay away from "International Superfits" as if you own the previous four albums the only thing on offer is the two unreleased tracks which aren't that great anyway. This CD is perfect for anyone who wants to get into the old Green Day (before their American Idiot days). It is good value aswell, with 21 songs of which all are pretty much hit-singles.
It is hard to pick any individual songs as highlights because of the nature of this CD, but special mention must go out to these four songs:
"Longview"
An anthem about intense boredom and masturbation, with a really great bassline before the guitar and sing-along chorus comes in. The bassist Mike Dirnt thought of the bassline while he was tripping on acid and I would really like some of that stuff because iit is one of the highlights of Green Day's career.
"Welcome to Paradise"
Again another track off the famous "Dookie" album, a rocker that you can't help sing along to Billi Joe's chorus about his idea of paradise.
"Basket Case"
A humorous song about cracking up mentally, featuring great guitars thyat build up to yet another insanely catchy chorus. I especially love how the drums kick in the chorus.
"Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)"
Completely different to the majority of the songs here, this is a mellow acoustic song which pretty much every human being has heard on eart. I am yet to find someone who does not like this song and when the violins come in it completes the tender ode to time gone by.
So overall this an essential compilation for the casual Green Day fan.
Summary: Brilliant compilation for any music fan.
