Advantages: this album is a collection of their greatedt hits, It has Billie Joe, Good Riddance

Disadvantages: A few song I dont like

A COLLECTION OF THE GREATEST HITS FROM GREENDAY – WITH A LITTLE EXTRA? THIS WAS A WELCOME PRESENT AT CHRISTMAS. ALREADY I OWNED THE ALBUMS OF NIMROD, DOOKIE, INSOMMIAC AND WARNING, NOW I HAVE THE CLASSIC SELECTION – THE INTERNATIONAL SUPERHITS.

Twenty-one glorious tracks of pure ‘Punk Rock’ from those loveable Americans! If this is not your type of music, then obviously this album is not for you? If you are into Punk Rock then this album is for you? A must have for every Greenday Fan out there…like me! I presume we all know who Greenday are: -

Billy Joe – Guitar, Vocals and also increasing the sex appeal of the band
Mike Dirnt – Bass Vocals
Tré Cool – Drums…

This is not the life history of Greenday though, so onto the album, a collection of their finest tracks, with the added bonus!

MARIA

‘Billy Joe’ it all starts from there, a little insight to Billy Joe’s talents, recording records as a baby, ohh what a talented wee boy. This song starts the album off on a nice tone, the story of Maria, the little rebel. I think we all could easily get into this song, good steady beat, Tré Cool going nicely on the drums and Billie Joe, oh well enough said…

POPROCKS AND COKE

I like this song, it is sung so sweetly and I get this sad vibe off it though and it leaves a little lump in me throat. A new song by Greenday, Greenday still have the quality they have always possessed. Again this song is not too pacey, a nice tune from Greenday.

LONGVIEW

This is one classic Greenday songs, starts off with a long guitar piece. Then introduced to Billy singing, then we come into the chorus where the song literally explodes with the introduction of drums and the song really livens up. I got no motivation apparently I’m told here, this song is somewhat Depressing when you look at the lyrics, though it’s a nic
e one to the ears.

WELCOME TO PARADISE

This is another one of my favourite Greenday songs, I mean any mention of paradise is nice and uplifting. It starts off rather lively and loud and really stays the same way – who would want it any other way? I think Paradise must really include Greenday, bliss.

BASKETCASE

Well to say the least, this is probably the most famous song by Greenday? Not my personal favourite but a song I really do like. This song is all about depression and going to see ‘Shrinks’ and stuff and what may be causing the depression as well! This song is straight to the point, “Do you have the time to listen to my whine,” Id say why yes dear Billie, anything for you. The song in the beginning is accompanied only by vocals and guitair, when Tré comes in with his drums gradually as the songs progresses and it all reaches a climax when he thinks ‘he is cracking up’ in the middle of the chorus. I really relate to this song another reason perhaps why I like it so much…

WHEN I COME AROUND

This song starts off rather slow, sad song with a nice calm drumbeat. Sung sweetly. This song remains the same all the way through really, not heavy at all really. I like this song to listen too but it does not strike some of the same chords that a few of the others do.

SHE

This is a nice song, nothing too heavy again, or too light. I can hear the drums a bit better than the last song – thank god – and another soppy lyric song, romance? This is a nice song, I just said that, a little heart warmer..

J.A.R ( Jason Andrew Relva )

This song was written by band member Mike Drint all on his own, normally the songs are written as a band. This song is okay, the lyrics are nice but not much more too say on it really. Read the lyrics, see the meaning. I get a little scared that I pick up a different message from songs that wh
at other people do.

GEEK STINK BREATH

This another one of the Greenday Classics, pleasant tune? I like it, the song is nice as the lyrics are somewhat inspirational? Well I’m on a mission and it’s to finish this opinion. This song keeps a steady pace, good stuff.

BRAIN STEW

Do you ever have trouble sleeping at night? Why not try this little tune to help you? I’m counting sheep but running out you see. On my own…here we go. This song is slow, nice, melodic and a pleasure to listen to this. Who needs sleeping pills when we have Brain Stew?

JADED

This song has a quick pace, a good song to mosh too. This song is also sung really fast, Oh I see myself typing fast to keep up with. Infact it sounds as if Billy Joe Armstrong is just shouting out a bunch of words, of course he is though they are actually words? This song is actually a little jaded, I tell you something I don’t seem to be able to keep any sense of balance while I am listening to this though.

WALKING CONTRADICTION

This song is so good!!! That’s my opinion, a nice contradiction going fast on the drums, sung softly and I suppose that’s the subtly of the song, Oh gosh, I’m a walking contradiction…

STUCK WITH ME

This song is loud, this song is fast and this song is not one of my favourite, of course not for those reasons. I cannot explain it, this song just don’t hit it off with me, a good enough song I suppose, though maybe fast forward for me…

HITCHIN A RIDE

Violins in punk rock? That’s how this one starts, then a distinctive beat appears. This song gives me the impression of walking and doing the twist? I am odd in the way though. Well go on and give the guy a ride…

GOOD RIDDANCE – TIME OF YOUR LIFE

This is my favourite Greenday song? This song appeals too me, as it tells me how good life
is? Or more to the point, make the most of you life as it aint all that long. The song starts off on the acoustics and gradually progressed. This song is sung so sweetly, and makes me cry. This is one of my grieving song – like Angels. It’s something unpredictable that’s for sure. Remember to make the most of you life, take photographs and don’t let yourself regret not taking them, don’t be camera shy as you’ll regret it if you die, and no one has a photo. Sorry, was going off on a tangent there. For what’s it’s worth. It was worth all the while

REDUNDANT

You loose the one you love and you may be lost for words. This song is okay, telling the story of how boring life can become when we follow the same old routines? The chorus is a bit uplifting though, oh well if this song for sure it is. It is not heavy, soft and sweet I suppose. Aren’t we all though?

NICE GUYS FINISH LAST

The drums lead us into this song, then joined with us faithful guitar. This song is quite nice, Billy Joe sounds nice, his voice sounds a little different, though in a nice way. The song is a good as any – with the exception of the brilliantly brilliant songs by Greenday!

MINORITY

Was this not one of the whole points off buying the last album? His song has you on your feet, jumping around like a bit dafty? I love this song, This song is one of my favourites – evidently – starts off softly then, in come the drums and the lyrics. Thereafter the lyrics start, especially at the chorus as it is so lively and oh I don’t know I just really love it. I wanna be in aminroity – not one of these people who settle for the Westlife, the Atomic Kitten and the next ‘Popular’ Stuff out there, I respect music, and I respect proper bands such as Greenday. I really recommend you listen to this song, especially if you are in the party spirit!!!

>WARNING

This is another okay song by Greenday, medium in it’s pace. It’s a warning baby that we are nearly at the end of the album. Can we live without Warning? This song is a proud part of the discography of Greenday, another one of my favourites.

WAITING

Are we waiting for the end of this album, the end of the career or maybe the end of this opinion? This song is nice, Billy Joe singing stands out as sang in a somewhat solo style in the opening, then he is joined by a stronger background of guitar and drums. I’ve been waiting a lifetime folks, a while anyway for this album. Im destined for anything at all.

MACY DAY PARADE

Starts off with nice acoustics, a long song a nice ending to the album. This song sparks the end of this album, which highlights what Greenday are all about – quality and satisfaction is guaranteed to you. This song is slow, the drums stay steady and we are slowly brought to a close on this album.

Greenday has been out for a while – they have had huge success, especially after they released Dookie, although Warning was not all they hoped it would be, I think that Greenday have a lot too be proud off. I have seen them live, they did Scotland proud, and it is a pleasure to listen to their album.

It was worth all the while, I hope you had the time off your life.

great op. This album annoyed me as I have all of the previously release albums so there was only about 3 non-album tracks on it and charging £15 quid for this I found was a little steep.
