... know that Madonna is a serious musician not just a pop singer. One of the best tracks on the album, it's a pity we never saw it at the time. The guitar intro is warm and leaves you unprepared for the harder rock style in the song itself. Madonna's undulating singing style in this song is a dead-ringer for a lot of Hynde's work. Burning Up is the blueprint for the version which made it in The First Album. There are tape speed effects, and robotic vocals which didn't make it into the final version ...more

Classic Rock - 1995

The tracks are mostly brilliant Valentine is a bit weak

Clapton at his best, old blues classics performed with Clapton's trademark brilliance, shows the real side of EC Clapton's mainstream fans may not fancy an entirely blues album

Wonderful music with something different The CD has a finite capacity

great material of the 70's and 80's the early 90's songs

Title track is excellent, three-piece is incredibly tight. Second half becomes repetitive.
