Formed originally in 1977 with a massive 11 members the Thompson Twins (who of course took their name from the bumbling detectives out of artist Herge's Tintin comics) released 3 albums before really breaking big in both the UK & the USA. Great songs, Original Some weak links

Still better than a lot of other rubbish this year! Too much noise, too slow and basically a Joy Division rip-off

26 songs, great stupid lyrics, some pop-punk gems A lot of filler, some lyrics are just too stupid, won't appeal to everyone

Very listenable, lots of variation and excitement None

Undiscovered
Decent pop songs with a soulful vocal A little repetitive in sound at times

Bang - Bang
Quality album Not easily available

Sorrow Throughout The Nine W.. - Amon Amarth
Five excellent songs capturing the Swedes at the peak of their abilities. Short, and not as easy to come by as the other albums.

Mirror, Mirror - Blind Guardian
3 Blind Guardian classics and a faithful cover song. Short, hard to find and not really worth the effort.

Birth Of The Prophet - Mylidian

Perpetual Burn - Jason Becker
Incredible guitar performance from an overlooked and ill-fated musician. Nothing for the casual listener.

Terrifying! Art of Dying - Balzac
Two albums for the price of one. Neither is very good, and only seven songs are new.

America Eats Its Young - Funkadelic
Lots of big tunes Inconsistent

Different Horizon - Fisher's Tale
A stunning album from a fresh, exciting band None
