Gloria seems to have been quiet of late in the UK, this album is a timely reminder of her soulful voice and her broad appeal. Who is she: Born and Cuba before moving to the States, Gloria was mainly big in the mid eighties to early nineties, scoring a successful run of hits. On this album: 'Coming Out Of The Dark' is the title song and is a confident and strident number, which shows Gloria pushing her vocal boundaries, it was a tour de force for her and signalled a triumphant return. In March 1990 Gloria Estefan, her family, and her entourage were travelling in their coach when it was involved in a serious accident. The singer was severely injured, breaking her back in the process. It was a long road to recovery for her,her family and her fans. "Into The Light" is a personal celebration of this recovery, and I think it is one of her best albums to date. I was due to go to one of her concerts, but it was cancelled due to the accident.
