Advantages: Extremely funky jazz music

Disadvantages: Might benefit from a good singer joining the pack

The Perceptions are a London based soul/jazz sixtet and Introducing... as you may have already guessed is their debut album, released towards the end of 2008. I'm not particularly knowledgeable when it comes to jazz but I no what I like and I like it fast with lots of rythm and changes in styles of the music, that's pretty much what is served on a plate here as each track jams along at a fair old speed and the listener is constantly taken somewhere by the drums and sax.

The Perceptions get incredibly funky at time and remind me a little bit of James Brown in some ways, whilst some of the tracks seem a bit too quick or tell a story in themselves without needing vocals, I think the album would benefit from having a singer at certain points and it would help break up the album in a good way because despite it's enjoyable sound, a completely instrumental album can get some listeners down.

I think that my favourite track is the first one "Right The Wrong", the extremity of the saxophone is nicely complimented by the funky guitar playing and awesome Hammond Organ playing by Italian Sam Gambarini, it's an extreely catchy tune and one that stays in my head long after listening to the album.

If you like jazz or funk, then I recommend giving this album a go - it's a top notch collaboration of some of Britain's finest talent.
