... shivers because it was so good - that chorus is haunting, the chorus is moving and emotive and it's delivered so well and showcases her fantastic vocal range and ability. Cry has a great chorus, i dont think it's the greatest song on this record though, i think it shouldn't have been a single because the verses has not much there. Dirty Pretty Words is a really good song that's different and firey - a good album track. A cover of John Lennon's Imagine is fantastic - i think she betters the original and it suits her really r...more

Premium Review Introduction - Alex Parks: One of the best reality tv winner albums, ever! (464 words)

Boy, Fame Academy was a good series wasn't it? The two artists it created where exceptionally talented and i think Alex Parks is one of the most talented winners from these types of shows, right up there with Leona Lewis. This debut record is aptly titled Introduction, as we see a introduction in the life of Alex Parks - this is a brilliant records combining some classic covers and some original material. The covers are original and they better the originals in my own opinion. The original songs are beautifully written and obviously where personal to Alex and they are also where emotive and great songs. When i first heard Maybe That's What It ...  Read the complete review

==================== The Artist ==================== Alex Parks is a Cornish solo artist/song writer. She rose to fame following being crowned winner of Fame Academy but soon made a name for herself outside of the Fame Academy walls with her heartfelt lyrics and outstanding voice. She has been out of the music scene for a while now but a lot of people are eagerly awaiting her return (assuming that does actually happen!). She has a huge fan base of dedicated followers who love her music. I may be slightly biased as I'm a Cornish lass too but I think her music is fantastic!! So far she Alex has released two studio albums: Introduction ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review Introduction - Alex Parks: Introduction to a Spiky Headed Future (2878 words)

I'm so sorry. I did it again. I played around with the title of the review to fit the title of the album and twist it to fit in with some sort of not-so-clever pun. Why do I always do this? Every album I have reviewed so far has had some sort of odd title. It's some sort of disease... Anywho, the album. Now, bearing in mind that she won Fame Academy and then was literally pushed into the Recording studios to record this, I would say its a very nice first album. One things for sure, we now have a total of 2 Reality TV show winners with real talent. ( Her and Will Young ) One problem with the spiky haired singer's album is the fact that it dos have quit a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Not Your Average Kind Of Girl (979 words)

The first series of Fame Academy produced David Sneddon as its winner. A talented singer-songwriter, undoubtedly, but displaying little charisma and nothing to make him stand out amongst all the other pop stars of today. A year or so later, he had quit trying to get hit singles himself and turned to writing for other people. How would the winner of the second series do? Would we be introduced to another Sneddon clone? It seemed that way when Alistair Griffin made the final two, but our winner this time was Alex Parks, something unique indeed. The Press would not have expected such a winner initially. On paper, she didn’t fit the accepted pop star ...  Read the complete review

Catchy songs Makes me feel old

Funky dance orientated sound; better quality of vocals Couple of weak tracks; unconvincing sexuality

Best half hour of hardcore punk you'll ever hear Only 33 minutes long

Excellent early release from possibly the best hardcore band still in existence A little rough around the edges

Epic pieces, wild array of styles, haunting lyrics. Lack of operatic singer. Middle of the album slightly dips in quality.

The Arcanum Order - At The Throne Of Judgement
A competent melodic death metal / metalcore thing. Very little difference between the songs.

We Love Kylie (Limited Edition)
good covers tacky ish

Nightmare Before Krztoff - Bile
Fills in what was missing with the predecessor. Still repetitive and often tedious.

Hvis Lyset Tar Oss - Burzum
Some of the finest black metal songs in existence. Central two songs are a little less phenomenal, and ambient outro won't be to everyone's taste.

Two Cocks in the Same Hole - Anal Bleeding

Concerto Suite For Electric Guitar And Orchestra In E Flat Minor Op. 1 - Yngwie Malmsteen
A hugely enjoyable electric guitar concerto with plenty of drama and lyricism A bit repetitive towards the end

Blood For Satan - Black Dawn
Completely average modern black metal. Completely average modern black metal.

My Name Is Joe - Joe
Consistant quality A couple of tracks let it down

Heralding The Fireblade - Falkenbach
