Not for me sorry Mr Stewart!

I like all sorts of music and have a huge collection of cds most of which I get in very good condition from Amazon really cheaply and recently I just fancied a bit Rod, one of my Mums favourites to remind me of home and her listening to it so much whilst growing up!

This is one of course by Rod and it's called 'The Great American Songbook' with 14 tracks on it and it was released in 2002.

1): You Go To My Head:

This track has a really jazz like feel to it with tinkering on the ivories! Its really melodic this one!

2): They Can't Take That Away From Me:

This is such a well know track and had so many people cover it but Rod with his husky voice and again the jazz sort of feel it has to it...it really works to be fair to it!

3): The way You Look Tonight:

Again a very well known track that Rod now covers with a jazz style and once again Rod really does this justice with that husky tone he has.

4): It Had To Be You:

Rods vocals are pretty much backed by just the piano on this, again in a jazz feel.

      5) That Old Feeling:

Another jazz feeling track! You can imagine listening to this in a smoky room listening to this type of music...I've been there way back and have to admit to rather liking this one!

      6): These Foolish Things:

A song that I had never heard before hearing it on this album which makes a nice change! Not a song I like....and once again with a whole jazz theme going on with it!

7): The Very Thought Of You:

Guess what?? Another jazz track but another song I had never heard of prior to owning this album and again not a song I like! It almost sounds out of sync from the background music which just sounds odd to me to be perfectly honest with you and I really don't like this one!

      8): Moonglow:

Another song I haven't ever heard of, with a jazz feeling to it. Bit more upbeat and beaty but again another song sadly I skip when I play this cd!

      9) I'll Be Seeing You:

Now this song I know, again Rod has given it a soulful and jazz feel and its a familiar song to me, faster than what I'm used to hearing this song and a bit more upbeat but I really like it and this track is usually put on repeat in my house!

10): Every Time We Say Goodbye:

Slightly less more jazz than the other tracks but what a boring track this is!

      11): The Nearness Of You:

Again another song I don't know prior to listening to this album and to be fair his voice is great and husky on this track but again too jazz for me though its nice and beaty and rather uplifting in its feel.

      12): For All We Know:

Another jazz sounding track, pretty enough and yet another I can't sing along to asI have never heard it before!

      13): We'll Be Together Again:

Guess what? Although this has a bit of guitar on it to begin with this is still a jazz sounding a track however this is one I finally like!

      14): That's All:

Melodic and really pretty this is my favourite track on this album as it isn't so jazz like!

      All In All:

Jazz. Rod does jazz and I have to admit that he sounds great on it...if you like Rod then I don't think he murders the tracks though you'll probably agree with me even if you are a fan of his that the originals are better but to to be fair and he doesn't try to update the original too much and sitting listening to it all isn't painful....if you like Rod! Me, I get that's its his take on an American Songbook but didn't realise when I ordered it that it was all with a huge jazz feel and had I of done I wouldn't have chosen this for my own collection cos although I like jazz I prefer the original stuff and not covers of it as a rule and there were many tracks on this I didn't actually know.

This is an album that I never reallyplay and now relegated to my mums Christmas pressie pile though like me I don't think she'll be all that impressed!

Google if interested and look on Amazon of course!
