It`s Midnight is another Elvis album released by the specialist label FTD, in truth a lot of the FTD albums are not worth their money and are simply aimed at fans like myself who will buy just about anything with the great man's name attached to it. That said, this album is actually a very good one and has become one of my most listened to, it showcases his live performance from the Las Vegas Hilton in the August of 1974, there are 25 tracks on the CD and most of the 25 are very good and the others are at least listenable. This has some lovely ballads on it such as "Softly as I leave you", Spanish eyes" and "You gave me a mountain". These recordings were actually made by Elvis sound engineers and never meant to be heard by the public as the sound quality was not up to scratch but as with a lot of FTD stuff they have been brought up to scratch with today's digital technology and can now be heard in all their live glory. True fans will love the chance to hear these never before heard tracks and they are a very good listen for everyone fans and none fans alike. The CD is one of the lesser priced FTD albums at only £18.00 and is a must have for fans in my opinion.
This release from the Elvis Presley specialist label FTD showcases a live performance at the Las Vegas Hilton from 24 August 1974. There are 25 tracks on this CD, most of which show Elvis really enjoying himself. My favourite song from the album is SOFTLY AS I LEAVE YOU which Elvis recites whilst one of his backing singers, Sherill Nielsen, actually sings the song. I enjoy this song as it is so different to most of the other songs Elvis recorded. Other songs featured include SPANISH EYES and YOU GAVE ME A MOUNTAIN, which is another great performance - Elvis really puts his all into this song. As with most other FTD CDs these recordings were recorded by Elvis' sound engineers and so the audio quality is excellent, unlike some audience recordings of Elvis' live performances. This CD is available from Amazon UK for £18.99 and comes highly recommended by this listener.
