TRIUMPHANT FAILURE, EVERLASTING POPULARITY Jean Sibelius was rightfully the first real Finnish composer. Despite there had been Finns before who had written music such as Robert Kajanus, it was not before Sibelius that Finland really got a proper musical voice apart from folk songs.
