Beck's guitar is electronically processed in many songs, causing it to lose all sense of fluid motion and to become ensnared in the same tedious repetition as the backing rhythms, the first two songs hardly featuring anything in the way of variation beyond a brief bit of acoustic at the start of 'Plan B.' Worst of all are the attempts to branch out into diverse genres that are as far from Beck's usual style as can be, with the hip hop beats and annoyi...more

Premium Review Jeff - Jeff Beck: Why Lord Oh Why? (310 words)

Heavy Metal - 2005

Talented progressive metalcore. Well, it's still metalcore.

More diverse than the studio albums, with less filler. Songs extended for far too long, and Deep Purple fans perhaps leave even more annoyed than before.

Doesn't descend into screaming metalcore. Progressive elements are now pretty dull, and most songs sound exactly the same.

If you like your metal mellow, but still fast, this is for you If you don't like metal, pass

Classic heavy metal songs with incredible love-or-hate vocals. A little short.
