Three Imaginary Boys - The Cure

Premium Review An impressive debut album from The Cure (908 words)
by micksheff - written on 26/01/08 (Very useful, 120 readings)
Rating:

vast record collection from that same era. I have slowly replaced many of these vinyl records with their CD equivalent and this album is one such example. In 2005 The Cure re-issued this album in a remastered CD format. This CD contains all of the twelve original tracks plus a bonus track of a previously unreleased song called "The Weedy Burton" which appears here as track 13. The full track listing is as below: 1. 10.15 Saturday Night 2. Accuracy 3. Grinding Halt 4. Another Day 5. Object 6. Subway Song 7. Foxy Lady 8. Meathook 9. So What 10. Fire In Cairo 11. Wish - The Cure

Premium Review What I Wish For... (190 words)
by lexijoe - written on 08/07/01 (Somewhat useful, 24 readings)
Rating:

I have been a fan of The Cure since 1991, when i first saw a documentary on them on MTV. The first album I bought was Wish and I was suddenly a hugh Cure fan. I went from happy whilst listening to Friday I'm in Love to very melancholy whilst listening to Trust. It is a very emotional album and I think that like most Cure albums every song tells a story. Wish is essential listening for every cure fan and also every music fan as there is something in there for everyone. I recommend this album as a great album that is one of my top ten always. Letter To Elise has got to be my all time favourite song, it is tragic and yet uplifting. It tells the story of a ...

Wish - The Cure

Premium Review Teenage Kicks (2025 words)

I found my salvation, in the form of a band of lipstick-smeared, huge-trainered, backcombed boys, and the rest, as they say, is history. I went to see The Cure play the Wish tour in 1992. Held in Dundee’s Caird Hall, with half the school attending, it was a pivotal couple of hours that shaped my life, and my musical taste, back into some semblance of order. I still have my ticket. After the gig I was hooked. They sounded like nothing I’d ever heard before, with lyrics that I could relate to and music that was neither too ‘hard’ nor too ‘soft’. You couldn’t classify it as it rock or pop – it was totally unique. I was ...

An incredible album of metalcore, fine vocal and instrumental work. Complex song structures may put some listeners off.

The vocal range on display here is excellent, the guitar hooks sublime. If you don't like the vocal sound of Fall Out Boy then you probably won't like this.

Some great, bouncy cheesypopmetal It was produced by EMI, without the band's input

Songs all cohesively flow, some monsters of tunes. Too Short? maybe.
