Jollification - Lightning Seeds

The Lightning Seeds never really got the commercial recognition they deserved. Yes, their two versions of "Three Lions" in collaboration with the even then rather tiresome Baddiel and Skinner made number one, but that and their "Like You Do..." compilation album apart they managed only one sally into the top ten in either chart. Even that was for a song - "You Showed Me" - that had been written three decades earlier and whose 1990s fame was due simply to its inclusion on the Austin Powers soundtrack. The third original album has to rank as one of the Lightning Seeds' best to date spawning a number of songs which keep you humming all day long. It is a good representation of the type of music from the mid-nineties when Brit-pop was very much at it's peak in terms of chart domination. This album, encompasses many of the aspects that make The Lightening seeds such a top group. This features one of their biggest hits, Lucky you, which is a masterpiece by my reckoning. It also features, Marvellous which you will of heard in a car commercial for Renault Scenic, Change, and one of the most under rated Perfect. One song that is worthy of particular note is the duet with Alison Moyet, which works really well. This album comes highly recommended. This release was the Lightning Seeds biggest, coming on the back of their rise in public acclaim in the middle of the 1990s. For me it is also their best, as although there are only ten songs they are all top quality. The album contains some of the Lightning Seeds most familiar songs. "Lucky You" and "Change" feature, as does "Marvellous" (after a enormously long intro), the song made famous by being featured in Renault advertisements. The Lightning seeds are really a pop band but I feel that they have that extra something that makes them really good, as you can see, and will be able to see I am normally into some of the more obscure musical styles of the world! Lightning seeds on the other hand are well, just easy to listen to and sound so good, is there a bad lightning seeds song? I doubt it! In my opinion Lightning Seeds have got it just right with a great sound, which isn’t like really sort of steps style for little kids maybe more a sort of adult more-complicated pop.
