This is ecstacy cometh as an album... (Just For A Day - Slowdive)

Advantages: Good stuff for when you can't fall asleep... Disadvantages: Don't listen to it at the beginning of the day... Otherwise you'll be ruined.
If you're expecting a long, exhaustively comprehensive history on this band or whatever, you are certainly out of luck my good man. I know absolutely nothing about this group whatsoever; I just recently discovered this record in the clearance rack of a local used CD store and decided to give it a listen. I can't even think now... I still feel unable to function in the real world, its like... all sleepy and tiring- but in a good way, do ya know what I mean? Very traditional arrangements abound, almost subliminal voices in the mix amidst the textured, wavey guitar structures; Lovely. This is as close to experiencing ecstacy as you can get without actually taking it. 'Waves', 'Ballad of Sister Sue' and 'Sadman' are all gems. I loved it; now... Yawn... I'm so very tired. Gorgeous stuff. It reminds me of a kinder, gentler version of My Bloody Valentine's 'Loveless' LP(itself a fab' recording). Anyone wishing to fly to the moon or float on the clouds, literally, would be mentally derranged not to pick this shimmering flower up. Good night my dearies... Summary: |
