FUNK-fuelled sleaze Rock with a side order of Hip Hop iconic group is back wearing same oldfangled rock 'n' roll crust. Aerosmith's 50 million deal with new label Columbia Records are heading for a bright deal after all. The Old Dirty Boston rockers' follow-up to 1997 Nine Lives and the band's 13th studio album Just Push Play seems the strongest release of Aerosmith. In less than a month, the album garnered a Gold Record recognition and now collaring the group it's first Platinum Award, surprisingly, the start of something big. The idea of aero-gliding back home to classic, that same familiar ironclad guitar riffs, volcanic blast choruses and same ... Read the complete review

Aerosmith are the first band I got heavily into, and I began buying some of their older stuff as their more recent stuff, such as Big Ones, was released. Although Aerosmith's tales of drink, drugs and god knows what else are legendary, it really is difficult to fault most of their music. The last studio album they recorded prior to this, 'Nine Lives', was surprisingly enjoyable, as the band played about with a host of new sounds while retaining their inherent, heavy rock riffs. The album 'Just Push Play' is the first the band produced independently, which is not necessarily a good thing, if it ain't broken, don't try to fix it. However, here ... Read the complete review

Aerosmith -- a geriatric boy-band, or are they still the rockers they used to be? Just Push Play is the latest album by Aerosmith, the Boston band who spent the 70's defining bluesy rock, spent a decade so wasted on drugs that they couldn't stand up, then came back in the late 80's and 90's with a different brand of commercial radio-friendly rock. Their last full album release was 1997's Nine Lives, memorable for being slighly more experimental than usual. Then there was the soundtrack single "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing", the kind of trite power-ballad that pushes Aerosmith even further away from the credibility they had when ... Alright, I'm an Aerosmith fan. They have provided us with great rock albums going on for 30 years now (although they may not remember any of it). So whats new with this Aerosmith album and how does it compare to their other great works such as "Toys in the Attic" and "Pump"? The first thing that struck me when listening to it is that it sounds modern (well, duh, its new), however, from Aerosmith I was hoping for a rock album - This has a slightly edited "pop" feel to it - Especially on the title track "Just Push Play". I don't like this sort of stuff normally, but it has grown on me (for the short time ... Read the complete review

I must say I have been pleasantly surprised by this album. I brought it in Italy cos i had lire left over and this was the only album there that interested me remotely. I had previously chosen to boycott post 87 Aerosmith material due to the appallingly radio-friendly Nine Lives. Not a classic, but does every album have to be? This is simply a good, fun rock 'n roll album to keep them going into their retirement and after such sterling services to the rock world can anyone really begrudge them that pleasure? Especially seeing as this album ain't half bad! My favourite tracks are Beyond Beautiful, Jaded and Under My Skin. Beyond Beatiful, I can ... Read the complete review
