Advantages: Nice overall sound. Nice for hip-hop lovers and excellent for ladies that love Justin.
Disadvantages: Maybe not a lot of people will buy it because, supossedly, "Justin's only for ladies".
It took me a little while to buy this album because there's always been a popular urban rule that says: "Male singers are for the girls", especially if it's a pop singer. This rule suits perfectly in my case: Justin sings pop and I'm a man. Anyway, one sunny day I woke up and said "What the heck, I'm gonna buy it even if they call me whatsoever" and I did. As I opened the cd case, I frightened: it contained a strongly girl-directed poster. I quickly ignored it and played the cd. And I was not disapponted. In fact, I felt pretty proud of myself, as I was enjoying such an amazing album while other men didn't just because of the stupid rule. Actually, I like this album so much that it's still a regular on my cd player. Here's my song by song review:
1.-Señorita: This is the fist song in the record, and it pretty much gives you an idea of how the whole album will be like: funky, enjoyable and fun to sing along to. By the way "señorita" means "lady" in Spanish. Score: 4/5.
2.-Like I Love You: This one is way more agressive
than "Señorita", and much more suitable to shake our bones. It starts with a guitar solo, to which quickly join the drums. It also features a rap. Score: 4/5.
3.-(Oh No) What You Got: This one's also very agressive and great for dancing, and singing along, although its lyrics are not precisely poetic: "Oh no, girl, is that your hands feeling on me...". Score: 3.8/5.
4.-Take It From Here: The first slow song in the album, also very good. It's very laid-back and great to relax. Score: 3.5/5.
5.-Cry Me A River: My favorite of the whole album, this one's the first of the songs that talk about Justin's and Britney's break-up. It's a revenge song, as he sings pretty hurtful things directed to Britney: "Girl I refuse/You must have me confused/With some oter guy/Your bridges were burned, now it's your turn/To cry/Cry me a river". It features Justin's beatboxing all over the song. Great track. Score: 5/5.
6.-Rock Your Body: Another up-tempo track great for dancing and singing, play it on a party and let it go. I would say it sounds a lot like "Señorita" on a faster tempo. Score: 4.5/5.
7.-Nothin' Else: This one's very funky and sing-along, play it after a hard math exam. You will totally relax and forget about it. Score: 3.5/5.
8.- Last Night: Another fun, laid-back, sing along song,, featuring relaxing bell chimes, great vocals, and a funny little monologue by Justin at the end. Score: 3.8/4.
9.-Still On My Brain: This is the weakest song in the album, as it makes you sleep in repetitive little piano melodies. Simply boring. Score: 1/5.
10.-(And She Said) Take Me Now: Here's when the agressive, fun, funky, dancey songs kick back in. It's the song I like the most to dance in the album, and it sounds a lot like "(Oh No) What You Got" in some parts. It features an awesome bongo-like solo. Score: 4.6/5.
11.-Right For Me: This one's very agressive too, but it sounds like an "(Oh No) What You Got" cheap copy. Weak. Score: 1.3/5.
12.-Let's Take A Ride: This is the song I like the least, as it has the same melody through all the song. However, it features the most agressicve lyrics of all the album, as they are very sex-oriented. Score: 1/5.
13.-Never Again: This is (like in many cases) that sad ballad that closes the album, but this one makes a difference, as its overall sound is very enjoyable and the lyrics beautiful, again about Britney, this time talking about how much he doesn't like to feel weak and vulnerable. Great ballad. Score:4.7/5.
Overall, this is a great album if you like: a)pop b)hip hop or c)Justin!!!
