Advantages: Beautifully written songs, Will Young, Will Young , Oh and theres Will Young

Disadvantages: None Its Will Young, - A few bad links . . .

As a huge Will young fan, I have decided to be impartial in this review. Will is finally back with a long awaited 3rd album, and he certainly hasn't disappointed me, although there are a few weak links on the album, overall it is really strong. Wills first album From Now On went platinum within weeks of its release and Fridays Child his second Album is now 5 x Platinum. Both albums reached number one in the Album Charts This album reached number 2 in the charts before its release from pre-sale orders. The Pop Idol winner is now a fully-fledged Artist, and the critic's cant deny it.

Nobody would have blamed Will for a half-hearted album. He has had a busy year, with the making of his new film Mrs Henderson Presents, Starring Judy Dench and Bob Hoskins and his struggles with depression over the past few years, Will seems a lot happier in this album and you can hear it in his music. The first Single from the Album was released a week before the album but only made it to no5 in the Singles Charts, A lot of people have said that this is due to the fact that Will decided to release it as a download 6 weeks prior to general release. This therefore stopped many people buying the song when it was released.

The Single was Switch it on and is the second song on the Album, The video to the single is excellent, a spin off of the well-known film Top Gun. Will named the video Hot Gun and made it really Camp. He even named his extras after the village people. The single is very catchy and you can't help but to tap your feet. It is very different to anything that Will has done before and a lot of people praised him for this. Chris Moyles loved the song from the moment he heard it and billed it as a sure number 1. How wrong could he be? The beat to the song is taken from Craig McLachlan's Hey Mona (if you don't know who he is he was Henry in Neighbours) The song is about being yourself and not hiding the truth away. A lot of this I feel is stemmed from him coming out "How can I live when I wanna be free?" he sings.

The first song on the album and the title track is Keep on. The song starts of slowly with a violin introduction, teasingly entering into an up-tempo electro poppy song. I believe that this song has a sexual meaning, the lyrics "You know I'm going to ride it, I won't hide it, Hey, I'm coming! Hey, I'm coming" There are still a number of Will's classic slow ballads in there just to keep his legions of middle aged fans happy. A prime example of this is All Time Love, a beautifully written song that sounds like something taken from a musical. It's about finding that one special person that you know is the one. You're all time love. "Sometimes you walk by the good ones coz you're trying too hard too, hard to see them" The song is really mellow and makes you think about that special person in your life.

When I went to Will's concert this year he sang a song that has stuck in my head since July. That song is Ain't such a bad place to be, from the moment I heard it I fell in love with this song. It is a catchy number very up beat with a unusual beat, its almost like you could dance 'Robotic' to it. It's a Very theatrical song, I think over the past few years Will's Theatrical training is coming out more and more in his music and that is what has happened in this song. The song is about when someone has hurt you and you have gotten over it. "It ain't such a bad place to be because were opposites, I know you so don't come creeping back I'm on my feet again" Another song that Will has sung at his concerts on several occasions is Save Yourself. This song also features on the Will Young Live in London DVD. It's a beautiful slow song that is about think of you and nobody else, look after number one and everyone else can look after themselves. "Save yourself, just yourself, don't think about no-one else"

My two favourite songs on the album are All I Want and Who Am I. All I want is a strange arrangement; I think that is why I like it so much. It is not Will's usual style of music at all. It has a lot of different levels to it. It starts off very slow and the vocals are similar to an old Beatles song. Then in the chorus Will blasts out this beautiful song, that makes you want to jump up and sing along. The guitar and drumming beats are foot tapping. The song is unlike anything that I have ever heard which is what makes it so unique and special. It's easy to see why it's the best song on the album. My other favourite, Who Am I is a truly romantically gestured song. When you first listen to it, it doesn't grab your attention until you actually sit down and listen to how beautiful the words are. Most people that are in a relationship could probably relate to this song at some point in time. "And who am I to tell you that I would never let you down, but no one else could love you half as much as I do now" When I first sat down and listened to this song I cried. It is a really simple song but It captures your heart and really makes you think. That is why I love this song.

There are a few other good tracks on the Album like Madness, which is a catchy crazy number and Home the last track on the album, which is a slow ballad but a lyrical masterpiece. The rest of the songs on the album are not in my opinion up to Will's normal standards, Happiness is a salsa type song that just does not compliment the album at all. Think about it and Think it over are good songs but are not to my taste. Overall the album is very good and Will's fans will not be disappointed. A few of the songs need a few listens to truly appreciate them, but basically most of the song are great with a couple of Exceptional numbers.

Will has written most of the songs on the album, which makes it more special to his fans. He has had some help though, Who am I was written by Lucie Silvas who was his support act at his concerts last year and has her own album breath in out in the shops. He also had help from Steve Lipson who has written for The Pet Shop Boys, Paul McCartney and Annie Lennox to name a few. Jamie Hartman who wrote Ain't such a bad place is a up and coming Singer/songwriter from America.

So there we have it, A honest review from a True Will Young fan, I have tried not to be biased in my approach to this and admit that there are a few bad links on the album, but overall it really is a good one. I have even had a few compliments on it from my Husband who never has a good word to say about Will, although I secretly think he is a closet Will fan.

The Album is out now from all good record shops and Internet music sites. Prices range from £8.49 up wards.

I also have to mention that the album is available on Dual Disk format which means you can flip it over and it's a DVD with some extra videos and Interviews from Will.

Unfortunately my local ASDA didn't have the dual disk in stock and I couldn't wait so had to buy the normal album. So I'm sorry but I cannot comment on these extras.

Thanks for reading

Lynz xx
