“ Genre: Soundtrack / Artist: Various / Soundtrack / Audio CD released at Virgin „
I have to say this soundtrack is just like marmiate - you either love it or you hate it! I don't think it's about the content of the music, it is more the style of the music. You certainly will not like it if you hate dance/trance music that's for sure!
Story behind the music -
Kevin and Perry are crazy teenagers with raging hormones and they realise the only place that is cool nowadays to go on holiday to is ....Ibiza! This is not only the trendy place to become a world class DJ, but it is also where they can "pull" "birds." To put a dampner on things, Kevin's parents insist on going - much to the disgust of Kevin and Perry. Rhys Ifans who plays "Eye Ball Paul" is there hero iconic Superstar DJ that they grow to worship. Things do not always go smoothly for Kevin and Perry and the film reflects their "troubles."
The soundtrack -
There are far too many tracks to mention in this review, as they are all so great! The disc when I first bought it cost me £17.99 which a few years ago was alot. It has still not come down too much, and some prices i have seen have stayed the same, it is almost as if many people know this is the album to have - a classic! The money is well worth being invested in! One of my favourites is "Feel Love" by R.A.F and "Big Girl" - which is another classic.
I find alot of soundtracks you become mellow to and over time get bored - this certainly isn't one of those albums, and i can safely say there isn't one song i do not like about this album!
Buy it if
....you love trance, dance, harry enfield, and can see humour through the songs lyrics.
Don't buy it if
..........you hate trance, dance and want a slow paced soundtrack - you definitely won't get it from this sondtrack!
Summary - great soundtrack that will keep you amused for hours, great dance songs that remind you of the 1990s music era and classic songs that will refresh your memory such as "Just another day" and "Toca's Miracle."
One not to miss! If a little too pricey
Kevin & Perry Go Large, or rather Harry Enfield and Cathy Burke hit the big screen, is less Hollywood romp than Ibiza idiocy. Kevin and Perry, the annoying teenagers from Enfield’s TV series finally get their chance to make prime prats of themselves on the grandest scale by travelling to Ibiza for an all in trip of a lifetime. Their objectives are pretty straightforward: become superstar DJs, get the girls and basically have it very “large” indeed. Stretching this one gag over the length of a movie could be hazardous (can the boys be genuinely entertaining outside the cozy three minute sketches on Enfield’s TV show?) well, apparently they can. Achieved through a shed load of toilet humor the universal appeal of these unlikely heroes might not translate to the silver screen but there’s a sting in the tale here, if you don’t like the movie there’s a cracking soundtrack behind the endless buffoonery on display. Even the comedy single from Kevin and Perry’s “Precious Brats” aptly titled “Big Girls” is quite a respectable effort with our two large lads grunting and rapping with all the style and wit of David Beckham giving a philosophy lecture! The rest is a wall to wall double CD track listing that will impress your friends and get you dancing ready for your summer jaunt to the hedonist capital of Europe this CD also pre-empts this summer’s glut of Ibiza albums with a degree of style. The Wiseguys, Fatboy Slim, Underworld, Tosca, Roger Sanchez, Chicane and the new smash hit from Fragma “Tosca’s Miracle” are all here in a bright and breezy collection. Some little extra touches round off this cool compilation with a cracking version of “I’m In The Mood For Love” from Jamiroquai’s Jay Kay joined by Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra and The Clashes “Straight To Hell' add a dash of spi
ce to an already overflowing tracklisting. Whether Kevin and Perry deserve the comedy plaudits of fellow big screen comedy duos is something only time will tell but if the soundtrack is anything to go by then it’s a big thumbs up for these to boys who like things to go out with a bang! Banging soundtrack!!
This album is from the popular, and hilarious, film ‘Kevin And Perry; Go Large.’ This film is based on the two characters from Harry Enfield Show. It’s a double CD compilation album. The first CD is all the hits fom the film. But anyway, here is the first CD..... It starts off with the song ‘Big Girl.’ Sung by Kevin and Perry. It’s just a great introduction to the CD, and a funny one at that! Sung by Chrissie Hynde, it’s called ‘Kid 2000.’ It starts with strings, and then the awful beat starts to come in. Then the worst thing starts to happen - she starts to sing! Warning: Cover your ears! The third song is ‘I’m In The Mood For Love.’ It’s done by Jamiroquai and Jools Holland and puts a smile on your face! ‘Ooh La La’ is a class track on this album. Fatboy Slim makes the next track ‘Love Island.’ Just wait for a couple minutes, it soon gets into a decent beat! The next track is ‘Straight To Hell’ by The Clash. Conveniently named, eh?! ‘King Of Snake’ by Underworld. ‘Another Day’ is a mellow song. The next one is called ‘Mystery Land.’ The 10th song is ’Ayla.’ The real good bit comes in after the 2 minute mark. This bit is worth waiting for. A track called ‘Crazy Ivan.’ Groove Armada does this track. I’m a big fan of this duo, and this track doesn’t let them down! It’s called ’Chicago.’ It’s wicked, and funky! Gladys Knight sings ‘The Look Of Love.’ This is a classic ‘old skool’ song! The 14th track is by Nightmares On Wax, and is called ‘Ethnic Majority.’ Tosca does the ‘F**k Dub.’ BORING! Nightmare On Wax appears again on this album, with ‘Emotion / Sweet Harry.
217; 17th is ‘Mi Amor.’ This is a comedy track! A Spanish background track, but a maniac shouting "Mi amor" every 2 seconds! Very funny! Next is a Roger Sanchez track, sounds like it belongs in a carnival. Very party-like indeed! Hence the title, ‘The Partee.’ The 18th track is called ‘Follow me.’ Great club track! Worth listening to! Sunburst does ‘Eyeball.’ And lastly, it’s ‘Luvstruck’ by Southside Spinners. Now onto the second CD. This is Kevin and Perry’s Classic Ibiza Mix. It’s just a really good club CD - even if you don’t like the film. It has all the good club anthems on there, as you will see.... First is ‘Dont Give Up.’ This was a huge hit, and a good intro into the second CD. ‘Must Be The Music’ has a great sample, both vocal and melody. The trumpets make it unique from other tracks on the album. ‘Get Get Down’ doesnt even need an explanation. Everyone knows it and has their own opinion! ‘Needin’ You’ has a fantastic piano sample, and the same with the vocal sample! It’s wicked! ‘Horny’ is yet another really classic club anthem! You know what it is, and you know you love it (whether you admit it or not!) ;-) ‘Get Wicked’ by Perfect Phase Presents Those 2. ‘Dreaming’ is just too groovy for words. This is a thumping song with wicked lyrics. ‘Sound Of Bamboo’ by Flickman. The 9th track is CRW’s ‘I Feel Love.’ It has a brilliant sample, and cool beats. I love it! Yomanda performs ‘Sunshine.’ I’m not keen on this song, it’s a bit annoying! ‘Lizard’ seems a real hard house track, but there isn’t really anything that distinguishes it from any other.
‘Coming on strong’ by Signum is the same all the way through! ‘A9’ by Ariel, has a very phat bass, but that is it! YAWN! Fragma, with ‘Toca’s Miracle.’ This is a great track, and was a HUGE hit. Everyone has heard it; and loves it! Then it’s Fragma’s turn again with ‘Toca Me.’ A bit of a let down, to be honest! ‘9PM Till I Come.’ Do I hoenstly have to comment? What a track?! ‘After Love’ by Blank & Jones. Good vocals, but no different to other club tracks. ‘Everyday’ by Agnelli & Nelson. ‘Sparkles’ DJ Têsto. ‘Pumpin’’ is a song that you all know, but didnt know the name of! It’s a wicked track, and catchy vocals! A good effort from Novy Vs. Eniac. 2000.B.C. with ‘Everybody.’ And lastly, It finishes with a mix of ‘Big Girl.’ I bet you are glad I finished this looong opinion! Anyway, this is a fantastic album, whether you like the film or not! There are some let downs, but only a few! Go out and get it, if you like going to clubs! It’ll probably be cheap to get now - Bargain bins; here we come!
