Metallica's début album Kill 'Em All was widely seen as a ground-breaking release when it first saw the light of day back in 1983. Recorded in two weeks on a shoestring budget, the band showcased an aggressive sound that took inspiration from traditional metal but approached it with the energy and urgency of punk rock. The resulting combination was dubbed 'thrash metal', and alongside contemporaries such as Slayer, Anthrax and Megadeth, Metallica played authentically fast and heavy music that was seen as a rejection of the more commercial L.A. glam-metal scene. Twenty five years on, this record certainly seems a lot tamer and less revolutionary than it perhaps did then. ... Read the complete review

Metallica’s musical progression has kept them in the spotlight throughout their twenty-year career as they explore all angles of rock music. Their latest release, St. Anger, is a very violent record with which the band intended to capture the hostility and aggression of their early albums, especially the debut ‘Kill ‘Em All.’ While it was musically very different, it’s easy to see why the band wished to return to this style as it has remained incredible popular even to this day. ‘Metallica’ were: James Hetfield – Rhythm guitar, vocals Kirk Hammett – Lead guitar Cliff Burton (R.I.P.) – Bass guitar Lars Ulrich - Drums ... We all know my opinion on this particular band, well, anyone who has read a couple of my reviews will do anyway!!!!! This is the album that symbolises Metallica, and the album that brought them to the plate so to speak. kill Em All is the very first album that Metallica released mainstream, and considering it got absolutely no airplay whatsoever on the radio or television, the fact it got to number 10 in the album chart is testament to the power of the band's music. The 4 band members that produced the Kill Em All included James Hetfield (vocals and mean guitarist), Kirk Hammett (sublime lead guitarist from the school of Satriani), Lars Ulrich ... The album 'Kill 'em all' originally titled 'Metal up your ass' was the debut album of American thrash metal band known as Metallica. The band intended to call it Metal up your ass with the album cover featuring a very unpleasant looking dagger coming out of a toilet but due to the producing company refusing to produce something out standing like this, they settled on the name we know now, which was inspired by a pissed off Cliff Burton saying how they should 'kill 'em all'. This being Metallica's first album was said to be the birth of thrash metal with its cross between Metal and Punk. Too punk to be metal and too metal to be punk. Released in 1983 and sold just ... It still stands up to alot of albums some 25 years later. Some people argue that it ws metallica and this album that invented thrash metal The 1st track Hit the lights is still played during many live sets and is a personal favourite of mine, I was ...
