Metallica's début album Kill 'Em All was widely seen as a ground-breaking release when it first saw the light of day back in 1983. Recorded in two weeks on a shoestring budget, the band showcased an aggressive sound that took inspiration from traditional metal but approached it with the energy and urgency of punk rock. The resulting combination was dubbed 'thrash metal', and alongside contemporaries such as Slayer, Anthrax and Megadeth, Metallica played authentically fast and heavy music that was seen as a rejection of the more commercial L.A. glam-metal scene. Twenty five years on, this record certainly seems a lot tamer and less revolutionary than it perhaps did then. ...

Metallica’s musical progression has kept them in the spotlight throughout their twenty-year career as they explore all angles of rock music. Their latest release, St. Anger, is a very violent record with which the band intended to capture the hostility and aggression of their early albums, especially the debut ‘Kill ‘Em All.’ While it was musically very different, it’s easy to see why the band wished to return to this style as it has remained incredible popular even to this day. ‘Metallica’ were: James Hetfield – Rhythm guitar, vocals Kirk Hammett – Lead guitar Cliff Burton (R.I.P.) – Bass guitar Lars Ulrich - Drums ...

This is the album that symbolises Metallica, and the album that brought them to the plate so to speak. kill Em All is the very first album that Metallica released mainstream, and considering it got absolutely no airplay whatsoever on the radio or television, the fact it got to number 10 in the album chart is testament to the power of the band's music. The 4 band members that produced the Kill Em All included James Hetfield (vocals and mean guitarist), Kirk Hammett (sublime lead guitarist from the school of Satriani), Lars Ulrich ...

The Red In The Sky Is Ours - At The Gates
Classic experimental death metal album, and At the Gates' best.
Some progressive touches aren't as well incorporated as they would like to be.
The Reminder - Feist
Feist's unique voice, the kookiness of it all, y'all
Many duff tracks on here, and the tracklisting is extremely suspect
The Resignation - Rx Bandits
Brilliant use of guitars, excellent vocals, and hugely powerful drum beats.
This hour of music just doesn't seem to last long enough.
The Return - Bathory
More classic early black metal.
A little too similar to the first album, and in places not as good.
Narrenkoenig - Schandmaul
Great idea, should be likeable
