Kill 'em all was Metallica's 1st album and perhaps changed the metal/thrash scene forever. It still stands up to alot of albums some 25 years later. Some people argue that it ws metallica and this album that invented thrash metal
The 1st track Hit the lights is still played during many live sets and is a personal favourite of mine, I was hooked from the very moment I heard it, with its simplistic lyrics and catchy vibe its a classic.
Originally entitled The Mechaix and co written by Dave Mustaine the next track the four horsemen is one of the highlights from this album. Its lyrics typify early Metallica telling you exactly what they think.
Moterbreath is the next track, A brutal song and I only wish I had been around to see what people thought when they first heard the song. It was so different to everything else that was around at the time.
Jump in the fire is an upbeat song but it does lack a certain something that other songs on the album certainly have.
The next track was Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth) it was a very special track it really showed what a great bass player the late cliff burton was, you really need to listen to the track to hear how gifted he really was.
Whiplash can be described in a simple word, MENTAL! its perfect for all hardcore fans to mosh about to especially when played live.
Phantom lord with its old school lyrics such as "The leathered armies have prevailed, The Phantom Lord has never failed" and "Sound is ripping through your ears, The deafening sound of metal nears" is a great song and one of the best on the album in my opinion.
No remorse is a song that can really get you fired up and its still played quite a bit on tour to this day, The rawness of this track really appeals to me and many others
Seek And Destroy is another favourite live and never fails to get the crowd whipped up into a frenzy and it was used to finish there sets with! Seek And Destroy is a classic song and will always be as fresh as the day it was written.
Metal Militia the album closer is sometimes overlooked but all the same has a dedicated following of fans. From its stomping intro to the final few seconds this is a full thrash onslaught on your ear drums. It is without doubt 1 of the best thrash songs ever written.
Summary: Kill 'Em All is a fantastic album its raw and it totally changed the whole thrash scene
