Advantages: awesome, good value, own it
Disadvantages: nothing, nothing, nothing
In my opinion this is Metallica's finest work. I'm going to use the strategy of my man padders to write this review, in which I will rate each of the songs and give it a final score. Hit the lights - An awesome song that very correctly introduces Metallica. The chorus is great, and the song is extremely fast. 5/5 The Four Horsemen - One of Metallica's best songs of all time. This song just rocks. The chorus grows on you and becomes better with each listen, and the band just plays with such intensity in this song. 5/5 Motorbreath - This is the weakest song of the CD, but it grows on you after about five listens. It is definitely not Metallica's best song, but it is a worthy addition to this classic album. 3/5 Jump in the fire - This song is just played with so much heart that you just have to love it. It gets repetive over time, but its just a great song that will lift your spirits. 5/5 Anesthia(pulling teeth) - I don't really count this as a song, but it is a quite impressive bass solo by Cliff Burton(i think that is his name). 3/5 Whiplash - After an easy listening break by Anesthia, this song knocks you back to your senses. This is a really fast song with a great chorus, a true Metallica classic. 5/5 Phantom Lord - This song absolutely rocks. It has the first sign of Metallica slowing down towards the end of the song, but makes it all the better. This song is really fast, and has a sweet intro. 5/5 No remorse - This is the 3rd best song on the CD. The guitar in the song is absolutely unbelievable. It has one of the best choruses that I have ever heard. 5/5 Seek & Destroy - The song that changed everything. The best song of all time, hands down. It just has one of those beats that you have to headbang to, and you'll find yourself
listening to this song over and over. After your done listening to the rest of the album, you'll find yourself listening to this song over and over again. 10/5 Metal Militia - This is a really fast song that closes the album with a bang. 5/5 This CD changed everything. It started speed metal, and no one does speed metal like Metallica. Don't hate on Metallica just because their new CD's suck. Just enjoy their old stuff, for example go out and buy this masterpiece right now. It is definitely in my top five albums of all time, and Seek & Destroy is my favorite song ever, and it probably will not ever be topped. Overall - 51/50 - 102 % of something around there, a definite five stars. This is the only CD that I will go over one hundred percent, it is that damn good.

- 05/06/02 For a first opinion, this wasn't too bad. Very brief and basic, though. Whilst you're clearly a fan and know a lot about Metallica, you've not given us much knowledge about them with which to make a truly informed choice. |
