Sticking somewhat belligerently to their template as a 'post hardcore' group, Hundred Reasons stick fuzzy guitars, a lot of drumming and a slightly aloof view of the modern world in a blender and then shout over the product. Quite a few grandiose lyrics and comments that sound like a detached socialist commentary running along in the background don't help to endear them to the general public either and that's more than a little sad. I recall with some clarity when this record was released and remember being glad to see one of my favourite British groups return with a new album (after a two year gap without new tunes by them for my minidisc player). I saw them tour shortly before it was launched and my response at seeing them live was not so different to my response to this album - Indifference tempered with positivity for the few good tracks and a general feeling of woe that another good British band had fallen by the musical wayside.
