An impressive album with several classics

Zakk Wydle is the guitarist who used to work and play for Ozzy Ozbourne and also wrote several of his songs, especially during his solo career. Zakk is a remarkable guitarist and one who is renowned for not doing things by halfs. His guitar riffs are always impressive and contain some dynamic effects, particularly his favoured use of pinch harmonics. There are several Ozzy songs which appear on this album. It is a double cd venture with a great classic rock style.

The first four tracks, Losin' Your Mind, Horse Called War, Between Heaven And Hell and Sold My Soul are all made up of original guitar work and are not that heavy, but show some impressive songwriting skills. The fifth track, Bored To Tears, then shows you how heavy rock music should be performed with energy and attitude and really stands out as soon as it kicks into action.

The next few heavy tracks that really stand out are Stronger Than Death, Counterfeit God and Demise Of Sanity. Zakk really has a very powerful voice which works fantastically at getting his message across. There are a few tracks scattered throughout the album which revolve mainly against lead guitar performance and are instrumental pieces which, though slightly boring, break the album up well into segments.

The bonus CD contains three music videos and seven cover versions of songs by the likes of Black Sabbath, Procol Harem, Neil Young, Led Zeppelin and even The Beatles!

Overall this is a great rock album, which aswell as containing several hits of his own, takes some other classic rock songs and Zakk adds his own unique style to them, transforming them into something more. An excellent and interesting album and in my opinion one which should be in every rock fans collection.
