Well. House Nation 2001 is one of those things. They look great in the shops, when you're out buying for something, then you get it home and can't help but feel slightly deflated by it. The tracklisting reads like a whos who of dance music from the last year- Fatboy slim, Moloko, Modjo, Black Legend, Craig David, Darude, Artful dodger- but also contains some tracks that should never have been invented. The problem is primarily that while some of the fantastic tracks like Architechs' "body groove" get you really going, other tracks just float by with absolutely zero effect at all. It's these tracks, like Africanism "Tourment d'amour" which really let the album down. That and the very strange selection of U2's "Beautiful Day". The redeeming factor is, however, the brilliant picks of some less well known tracks like the anthemic "get up (it doesn't matter)" by Antoine Clamaran and the just extremely catchy "Get enuff" by Wookie ft. Lain. Also, another definite plus point is that the mix is very smooth and uninterupted- always a plus point. Overall, it would be hard to call this album great, but if you don't mind quite a bit of filler, it should do your party no damage. Just keep that CD Remote control by your side.....

With Ibizan party monsters Alex P and Brandon Block at the helm, Kiss House Nation 2001 would be hard pushed to fail in the floorfiller stakes. With 38 tracks spread over two CDs, there is plenty on offer for all--from full-on party house anthems such as Modjo's "Lady (Hear Me Tonight)", Bob Sinclar's "I Feel For You" and Timo Maas' storming and squelchy remix of Azzido Da Bass' "Doom's Night", to garage scene stalwarts Craig David ("Fill Me In"), Artful Dodger (accompanied by Romina Johnson on "Movin' Too Fast") and Wookie ("Get Enuff"), along with a couple of unusual but extremely good reworkings of pop hits from Samantha Mumba (Tall Paul's Vocal Mix of "Body To Body") and U2 (Quincey and Sonance's Mix of "Beautiful Day"). It's a relentless beast of a dance mix CD, with very few down-tempo numbers to give any respite from the repetitive beats. This much fun ought to be illegal
