La Minor are a Russian Jazz Folk band that tend to play klezmer music, their 2006 album "Death of a Jeweller" is a bit of a cracker, well-appreciated in Germany, Netherlands and France particularly - it's taken the band a bit of touring to get themselves known outside of their native St. Petersburg but their performance at the Cannes Film Festival to the premier of the film Import-Export cemented their place in World Music circles. Vocally, Slava Shalygin tends to sing in his stylishly sad yet jolly Russian crooning voice as he belts out lyrics representing the 20's-40's Soviet films of gangsters, love stories, con artists and prostitutes a plenty. ...
