Lace And Whiskey - Alice Cooper

The late 70's to early 80's saw a consistent flood of material, but until Alice entered the hair metal arena, only From The inside and Special Forces were stunning albums which stood up to his legacy. The rest, Lace and Whisky inclusive were almost filler albums. Cooper went through some personal problems during this time, so with that in mind, it's quite amazing that he managed to keep righting and recording albums. Lace and Whiskey is a bit of an unknown album for whatever reason but it's pretty exciting despite being completely different to the punk of the time! Cooper's 10th album sees a change in style, specifically lyrically as he moves away from his typical darker side and instead focuses on more of a crooning style, lyrically and vocally. The funky little rock n roll track Ubangi Stomp which sounds a bit Elvisy or even Jerry Jee Lewis is incredibly good fun. Another track that really rocks is "Road Rats" albeit featuring some bizarre keyboards and is a dedication to the Roadies of the band.
