A Bit O' This And That - Emilie Autumn
by slinkyindieninja - written on 15/11/08 (Very useful, 41 readings)
Rating:
track 7, was originally recorded for one of EA s side projects, but as all her side projects have been at least temporarily suspended, it has been released under the Emilie Autumn name. O Mistress Mine was also intended for a side project - an album of songs written for the scenes in Shakespeare plays where the stage direction reads simply "Music Plays". Exclusive to this album is the song Miss Lucy Had Some Leeches , in the style of a playground hand-clapping rhyme. The track labelled with that name also includes the original recording Photographic Memory (very short, low sound quality) and cover of Billie Holiday s Crazy He Calls Me (recorded using a ...

4 O'Clock - Emilie Autumn

Rating:
This CD is definitley a bit of a puzzle. Partly a Remix EP and partly a preview for Emilie s book "The Asylum For Wayward Victorian Girls", there s quite a considerable amount of material covered here. The original tracks show how diverse Emilie s taste in music is. "4 O Clock" is a piece that combines electronics with her trademark violing to create a sound that immediatley makes you think of Steampunk literature and drawings. "My Fairweather Friend" could easily be a demo from Amanda Palmer s solo album (being a fan of Palmer, thats high praise indeed) and then there s the jaw-dropping track "Organ Grinder". Think of Apocalyptica ...

Opheliac - Emilie Autumn

designs the packaging and artwork for her releases herself. She is the sole contributing artist on this album, which has been largely programmed on computer. I started listening to Emilie Autumn s music several months before this CD, her second full length album featuring vocals, was released. My first experience of her music was through her second album (first featuring vocals), "Enchant", which is vastly different from this release. Early recordings of material from this album were also quite different from the final result. If you listened to "Enchant" without hearing any of the tracks from "Opheliac", you should not assume that you will ...
