The fifth Album from Everything But The Girl, entitled The Language of Life hit the shops in 1990. Despite my slight disappointment with its predecessor, Idlewild, I had fallen in love with their first three Albums and therefore I awaited this release eagerly. Whilst Idlewild had some good songs on it, it somehow lacked a sense of direction, it was as if Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt, the duo that are Everything But The Girl, were unsure of which direction they should be going in, or maybe they were just scared of being put into a category.
