not everyone will have an epiphany when it enters their lives, but nonetheless, if you like evocative guitars, cryptic lyrics and passionate singing, then this a beautiful album. At times Matthew Good s wondefully versatile voice sounds creepy, dark and menacing, at others it trembles with emotion; not the trite pseudo-emotion of so many identikit 30 yr old pop-punkers bemoaning parental oppression, but real, intense feeling woven with beautiful, moving lyrics and sung with passion and varied dynamic that really gets under your skin. Good s voice soars and trembles and whispers as his lyrics plumb the depths of depression and suicide, reminisce about alcoholism and ...
