I was introduced to metal at 15 when I started college. I'd found Deep Purple a few years before that and was aware that I wanted something heavier but not what. One of the friends I made on the hockey team at college introduced me to the wide world (and deep pit) of metal music. (Thanks Nick I still owe you for that and much more, not that you'll ever read this). I quickly became a fan of the traditional metal; Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and their fellows and slightly more gradually learned to appreciate the heavier stuff; Entombed, Pantera and some really obscure stuff; Sodom and the like. My favourite of the heavier stuff was definitely the ridiculous speed ... Read the complete review

Live albums have a tendency to be low quality and merely an attempt to cheaply add an album to the artist's discography without having to bother writing new songs. However, the good points are that they often contain most of the band's best songs from across their albums, which make them accessible more easily to newcomers. This albums is basically that: Marilyn Manson's fifth album, "Last Tour on Earth" is a collection of Manson singles and popular songs from the previous albums "Portrait of an American Family" (1995), "Smells Like Children" (1996)- a very poor album which is explained in my review of it- ... Live albums are normally a bit drab and dull but this one is absolutely excellent. Whatever you think of Manson, he writes very good rock music. This album is a great introduction to his stuff, if you are new to it all. There are songs from all of his albums here. Beautiful People, Sweet Dreams, and Rock is Dead sound really good. There is a little bit of talking in between songs but I think it only makes it better. Mr. M is intelligent and has interesting things to say to the world (perhaps not demonstrated on this album) . But above all else, the music is good. Any rock fan should get this, its excellent value. People need to get rid of the evil image they may have of ... Read the complete review

Live albums were much more fun back in the '70s, when home video and MTV weren't part of the culture and they were often the only way to experience a band in concert if you missed the actual event. They were usually big, bloated, double-record affairs, with gatefold sleeves, tons of live photos, and sometimes even a souvenir booklet or tour program. Nowadays, it's so easy to see almost any artist perform live, through television or video/DVD or, more often, the Internet, that live recordings have lost that special air they used to have. In the case of a band like Marilyn Manson, there's even less incentive to buy just the plain old live record ... Read the complete review

i'm a huge MM fan so i bought this album on the day it came out . This is a first class album . The front cover is such a powerful image . If you've seen the vid. GOD IS IN THE T.V. then you'd know that he arrives on the crucifix in the intro and sets in on fire in the ' Hell Outro ' part of ' Sweet Dreams' . ' Rock Is Dead ' sound better live , as does ' Don't Like The Drugs ..... ' . The track that stands out is ' Antichrist Superstar ' it is a classic . The unreleased track is a brilliant song aswell . ... Read the complete review
