I first heard of DJ Rap when I heard the single "Good to be alive". It didn't do particularly well but it was enough to put her on the map. The album "Learning Curve" exceeds all expectations. This is a woman who has started out with nothing and not sold out to the teenybopper world. No doubt she could have done, she has the looks and the voice. Instead, she stuck with working for a high street retailer whilst mixing and writing tracks in her spare time. This album was probably one of my best buys in '98. I hadn't heard of of DJ Rap then and I've heard very little since. The 1st song on the album is a little softer and sweeter than the rest of the tunes - 'bad girl' is one of those '90's anthems that you heard around the place and never new the title of, or the DJ. The rest of the album gets a bit more hardcore and retro in places - 'Hardcore', 'F*** with your head', with a few moments of ethereal wonderings - 'changes', 'Good to be alive', and a couple of violins thrown in to boot on song 3 and 10.
