Stunning music and vocals combine with great value for money to give an amazing album

Boyz II Men have long been considered to be one of the top groups in the music industry with their talent being undoubted and their success being second to non in the style of music they perform (a mixture of R&B and soul) so with Legacy the best of their offerings to date are offered up for all to delight at.

This album is full to the brim of amazing music which is what we are all after whenever we purchase any cd so here is what is on offer with this one:

It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday
      End of the road
In the still of the nite (I'll remember)
Hey lover - Boyz II Men & LL Cool J
      I'll make love to you
      On bended knee
      Water runs dry
One sweet day - Boyz II Men & Mariah Carey
      Doin' just fine
      4 seasons of loneliness
      Song for mama
      Pass you by
      Rose And A Honeycomb
      Thank You

Among my favourite are the amazing songs such as One Sweet Day, End of the Road, I'll Make Love to You and In the still of the nite (I'll remember) and each of these are truly special as they offer up sounds, words and singing that stir feelings and emotions within your mind, heart and soul.
The rest of the album thankfully is full of amazing music with no weak offerings on show anywhere in the album and simply put this album is amazing. The music is great for fans of the group or those who have not heard any or much of their work and with the album now available in many places for less than a tenner this is a must have for all music lovers as it adds something which few other artists in the world can give in that it provides pure feeling in music form.

Overall this is a brilliant album that gives truly stunning music throughout with songs that are all world class and worth having in your music collection and thanks to the excellent value on offer now due to the album being slightly older this is a must have.

Boyz II Men have experienced huge success in their nearly 20 years in the Music Industry. Later on this year they will release a new album marking the 20th Anniversary of them becoming a group. The early years were paved with several incredible hits, End of the road, I'll Make Love to You and the duet with Mariah Carey "One Sweet Day" all setting records for weeks at number one. In the following years they still produced hits but not anywhere near the kind of level set previously and then in 2003 Michael McCary had to leave the group due to his Scoliosis leaving him unable to perform and record without considerable pain.

Nathan Morris, Shawn Stockman and Wanya Morris decided to carry on as a threesome in Michael's absence and they have since gone on to record several albums as a trio and have had several hugely successful world tours including a UK tour in 2007, 2008, 2009 and now 2010 with the Boyz set to hit UK Stages in May after a huge tour of the United States. This album marks their careers up to 2001 so all of these tracks feature Michael McCary as he left the group the after the final album as a foursome Full Circle in 2002.

        "Motownphilly" 1991

We start the collection with this flowing up tempo joint which brings together their Philadelphia roots with their Motown sound and mentions the day when they sang backstage for Michael Bivins who was a member of "New Jack Swing" foursome New Edition. This is a really catchy up tempo track and shows another side to Boyz II Men than their Smooth Love Ballads.

"It's So Hard to Say Goodbye To Yesterday" 1991

This lovely smooth acapella track is a great example of their obvious vocal talents, Both individually and as a group. This is a cover of a little known original by Husband and Wife duo Freddie Perren and Christine Yarian who had G.C. Cameron release it in 1975. I much prefer the Boyz II Men version and it really shows off their vocal ability even in 1991.

        "End of The Road"

This Babyface penned ballad took the world by storm when it was released in 1992, It was number one for an incredible 13 weeks and was beaten later that year by Whitney Houston's classic "I Will Always love you" which managed one more week. "End of The Road" is a wonderful ballad about a relationship ending when you still love them so much and don't want them to go even though they have cheated. Oh please avoid the dreadful cover by "We Are Scientists" it is truly one of the worst covers in the history of Music.

"In The Still Of The Nite (I'll Remember)" 1991

This is another acapella but it does not quite hit the heights of the previous acapella. This is still a very good track and deserves it's place on their debut album Cooleyhighharmony. This track has a very barber shop quartet feel. It has a really nice flow and is suitably laid back. The original was by Five Satins and was recorded way back in 1956.

"Hey Lover" ft LL Cool J. 1995

This is one of three tracks on the album which don't appear on a Boyz II Men studio album, This track is a laid back slice of LL Cool J Hip Hop and combines the smooth vocals of Boyz II Men with a catchy hip hop beat and LL's laid back rapping. This is a very fine collaboration and is featured on "Mr Smith" LL's sixth album.

"I'll Make Love To You" 1994

This is such an iconic track from the Boyz, It is one of the ultimate love songs and is probably played hundreds of thousands of times around the world every Valentines Day. This track is from their second album II. This tied the record that Whitney Houston set at 14 weeks. This is such a sensual and sexy track and it really is a superb experience to see them perform this live as I have had the pleasure of four times. This track is on countless "Greatest Love Songs" collections.

        "On Bended Knee" 1994

Another belter of a ballad from II, this was Written and Produced by The extraordinary hit making duo of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. This track remarkably replaced "I'll Make Love to You" at number one. I love this ballad about knowing you have done wrong and wanting to make things right, This really gets you if you can relate to the sentiment. Awesome vocals.

        "Water Runs Dry" 1994

This is another track from II and is another Babyface penned track, It's a really lovely ballad about trying to sort things out before it's too late. I love the vocal harmonies on this track as they are so flowing, This is a beautifully sung ballad and one of their best tracks. The lovely string background makes for a great setting.

"One Sweet Day" ft Mariah Carey 1995

This is one of the greatest songs of all time in my opinion, I absolutely adore this track, It is a real tear jerker about losing a friend who died. This track was inspired by the deaths of producer and C+C Music Factory member David Cole, as well as Carey's "guitar legend," Def Leppard guitarist Steve Clark and the Boyz were inspired by the death of their former manager Roderick Rountree.

        "Doin' Just Fine" 1997

This track was featured on Evolution and is another fantastic ballad, it opens with a punchy beat backed by a lovely string section, Nathan's vocal then comes in, This is a beautiful ballad about when you split up with someone and you can't forget them and can't take the thought of seeing them with someone and then down the track you move on and have gotten over the breakup of the relationship. This is a great tale of getting over bad times.

        "Four seasons of loneliness" 1997

This is a lovely ballad which opens with a catchy beat and some nice keys. It was the first single from Evolution and was pushed off the top spot by Elton John's Candle in the wind. This track is about how each season reminds you of something to do with you and your partner. This features some great vocal interaction between the group. Smooth and brilliant.

        "A Song for Mama" 1997

This is from Evolution and is a fabulous tribute to mothers, This track is about a relationship between a mother and her son or daughter and although everyone has bad times with their mother they still have that undying love for them and how they care for you. As I mentioned earlier I have seen them four times and everytime they perform this song they do a lovely breakdown with everyone calling their mother on their mobile and asking them to listen while the Boyz perform this song. A wonderful touch.

        "Pass You By" 2000

Nathan, Michael, Shawn, Wanya is the album and this track was one of two singles released from the album, Pass You By is a lovely flowing track about not taking love for granted and to grab it by the horns when you are in love. This track really builds well and then superbly climaxes towards the end resulting in some fine, fine vocals from Wanya Morris in particular.

        "Rose and A Honeycomb"

This was a previously unreleased track which is a lovely mellow track with some great bass notes from Michael McCary which set the romantic mood. If "I'll make love to you" is the ultimate love making ballad then this is the ultimate warm up. It has a lovely sound and is a great addition to this collection. A great track.

        "Thank You" 1994

This is a funky "New Jack Swing" style track with some full on vocals which really showcase the immense vocal talent especially in the harmonies. This is one of the more up tempo tracks from II and is a wonderfully vibrant track which really shows that they are not just about love ballads however well they do them.

Boyz II Men have sold well over 60m albums worldwide and are likely to sell many many more, On this evidence it's no surprise as this collection contains some of the finest R&B songs of all time with countless classics like "End of The Road", "One Sweet Day", "I'll Make Love to You" and "A Song for Mama aswell as the fabulous up tempo tracks like "Thank You and "Motownphilly" which deserve their place in Boyz II Men's incredible History. This collection was released nine years ago and I don't think it will be too long until we get the second instalment of Legacy.
