Released in 2004, Swades was Ashutosh Gowariker's follow up to the oscar nominated Lagaan(2001). The soundtrack is by A.R. Rahman once again and he weaves his magic one more time! The album starts with the dreamy 'Yeh Tara Woh Tara' which speaks of stars in the sky, of hopes, of dreams and of unity among people. Javed Akhtar's lyrics are subtle yet directed at social issues. Rahman composes a pleasant tune, and certain usage of instruments will leave you spellbound(especially the flute). However, the star of the show is Udit Narayan. Released in 2000/01,Dil Chahta Hai created a new wave of cinema and its soundtrack wasn't too far away.
