It's been a while since I've written a good straight music review, so I thought it was about time I whipped out my quill and parchment and put down some lyrical musings once again. Yes, I've been very busy, and yes, I have been writing my first novel, but it's time to take a little time out and get something a little more commercial written! I've been eyeing up this particular sliver of silicon for quite some time now, and I finally laid my greasy little hands (not literally you understand) on it a few months back. Oh, and how glad I was to do so. So, what are we looking at here? - Kravitz in full This album is your ... Read the complete review

Back in 1990, the first Lenny Kravitz song I ever heard was “Let love rule”. I thought it was brilliant. Now I’m a Beatles fan, and “Let Love Rule” sounded to me exactly like the kind of song that the Beatles might have produced if they’d produced a 70s successor to “Lady Madonna” or “Hey Jude”, with McCartney on vocals, but the band still together. Anyway I knew it wasn’t any Beatles reunion (in those days that was simply never on the cards), but I enjoyed New Yorker Kravitz’s tune all the same – I even bought the 7 inch single. When a top-notch album artist puts out a greatest-hits collection, there's often a feeling that some of the best material has been left behind, and that without some of the full albums, your collection would be sadly incomplete. With Lenny Kravitz, however, nirvana has arrived. Finally. Although none of his albums are essential, he has crafted some terrific singles over the years, and this release marks the first opportunity to get them all on one CD. Better yet, Greatest Hits includes a strong new track, "Again," similar to his other slow rock numbers, but a little more interesting. Of ... Read the complete review

Lenny Kravitz is an acquired taste. People either love him or hate him, there seems to be no middle ground. I think that people like his chart releases, but then find the rest of his music too dark or too far removed from what they had heard before. Now, nearly 37, his direction seems to be changing, and his music seems to be becoming a lot mellower and less angry. ?Greatest Hits? is ideal for anyone who has ever liked any of his music, as the songs chosen for this CD are the cream of the crop. ***ARE YOU GONNA GO MY WAY*** A great rock song. The lyrics become secondary to a great guitar player and drummer, (the riff is one of the best I have ever ... Read the complete review
