This is the debut album from Canadian rock chick Avril Lavigne and it was a huge commercial success and put her firmly on the world stage and has gone on to release two more albums after this one. For a debut album I have to say that I think it is an exceptional piece of work. The songs are varied with some really upbeat and energized tracks followed by some really chilled out songs with great emotional lyrics. The most famous song form this album was her debut single complicated which discuses the relationship with a boy and has quite an upbeat sound and a really catchy tune. The other famous song is Sk8er Boi which is probably my ... Read the complete review

I bought Avril Lavigne?s debut album, Let Go mainly because of the first hit--Complicated. Avril had this new yet different sounding voice and some catchy hooks, so after debating for a while? I decided to buy Let Go. Does Let Go live up to my expectations? In a way it does. I kind of expected all the songs to sound like Complicated/Sk8ter Boi, and while some of them do, a lot of them don't. There?s really a nice variety of musical styles on the album, which is a plus in my book. Featured on Let Go, you will discover rock, pop, ballads/slow songs, and some country-ish pop sounding songs. Though Avril isn?t a true punk and can?t sing that well when performing live [or ... Read the complete review

The current invasion of female singer songwriters from across the Atlantic is slightly curious. Curious in two respects. One they have managed to sell vast amounts in a short space of time in a genre that looked to be pretty much dead. Sure back in 95, with the Alanis breakthrough girls with guitars and attitude were temporarily the flavour of the month, and the talented likes of Sheryl Crow, Natalie Imbruglia set the charts alight. Riding on the coat tails a bit but still getting a sales uplift were established artists: the likes of Sarah Mclachlan, Tori Amos. Even half-hearted imitators like Meredeth Brooks managed to shift a few albums. But tastes change, the downward ... Read the complete review

Avril Lavigne is cool. That's all I can say. Now punky pop music is not really what I'm associated with but hey Avril's new album kicks ass! I only received it from my sister after she bought me a bunch of female solo singers albums back from the states. Now definitely do not expect Avril to be a Britney clone. She is beautiful but rather than wear Chloe and Versace original's she's more into her baggy pants and vest tops. She basically thinks Britney is a w*ore, and she has no problem in saying that. After many years of the Britney's, Christina's and Mandy's it seems there has been a stampede of new female solo singers wanting to do something different and Avril is ... Read the complete review

Hugely fun early Horner fantasy effort
Experimentalist attitude and not a hugely different sound when compared to Star trek II
American V: A Hundred Highways - Johnny Cash
An immaculate choice of songs, and a heart-rendering vocal performance
None. I really can't think of any!
Moon Of Characith - Black Funeral
May assist your evil rituals, and is genuinely unsettling.
Well, it's not even music, is it? It's not even noise nor ambience neither, it's just sound effects.
