... energy to the music. I WON'T GIVE UP is an inspirational song with a positive message and the vocals are strong. DISCONNECTED is quite a weak song and is saved by the beautiful chorus which brings the song to life. IF LOVE EQUALS NOTHING comes close to been cheesy in the lyrical department though the melodies are pretty soothing. LOVE is a stereotypical love song that adds nothing to the album except mush. SIMPLE PHILOSOPHY tries to be too clever with the lyrics that it loses it's edge in the other musical departm...more

Premium Review Let It Go - Will Young: Album Of 2008 (1061 words)

In my opinion, Will Young is the best artist to come out of these reality shows. I am well aware many people are amazed by the sheer amazingness of Leona Lewis but i dont feel that! Will Young to be is not only far the Best male vocalist by a mile in the UK who is interesting, captivating, vocally fantastic - qualities which i don't find in his peers such as Robbie Williams who tends to be more cocky and a star rather than a vocalist, Shayne Ward who isn't that good, James Blunt if you like the sound of cats screaming outside or even James Morrison who whilst having a good voice doesn't have that something special, his songs are quite formulaic and he comes off quite ...  Read the complete review

LET IT GO is the title of pop star WILL YOUNG'S album. The album contains 13 tracks which I will review. The opening track CHANGES is a powerful song with a cracking chorus. The vocals are on top form while the lyrics tell a good story which enhances the melodies. My favourite song on the album is GRACE which features beautiful vocals. The tune is wonderful and features on a television advert which provides a mellow sound. WON'T LOOK DOWN is an energetic song full of emotion and a lovely rhythm which flows gently. TELL ME THE WORST tells a good story through the lyrics which brings good energy to the music. I ...  Read the complete review

I know he is held in high regard, but is it just me who find Mr Will Young just a little bit boring? At the height of X Factor, it was all very exciting and each release was a joy, we didn't care if they were all cover versions, we just bought them and accepted that we had a new star in our midst. Fast forward a few years and Will has brushed away any last smells of X Factor that might have been lingering, adopted his own musical path and gone all mature and James Morrison on us. 'Changes' is mellow, jazz lounge almost. He sings like he has been doing the song for a million years. Effortless yes, but a dreary old song on the verses until the chorus ...  Read the complete review

When i got this album about a year ago i renowed it as Young's best album by far none and i still now think it's utter brillance. It improves on some of the songs i was unsure about on Keep On and it's quite frankly Young to his best. For some reason it hasnt flied off the shelves like previous efforts but has done well on some quarters. It's not been a successful album as others by Will but critically Young has never attracted so much acclaim. A great opener in the shape of Changes, a great chorus and a great way to come back. I am pretty sure to say that Grace is possibly the best song Will has done since winning the TV show, it's haunting and i love the ...  Read the complete review
