In the year of 1983 all eyes were on David Bowie and what he would do next. He had taken an unprecedented three years away from releasing a new studio album; prior to this an album a year was to be expected from The Thin White Duke. However, Bowie had been developing a get rich quick scheme that would be certain to reap rewards. To assist him in this he got on board Chic mastermind Nile Rodgers to produce and aid him in the album's creation. In contrast to the critically adored Berlin Trilogy that he had brought to a close less than half a decade ago, the end results were really something quite different and I'm sure that more than a few from his ... Throughout music history, I doubt there will ever be another artist to will produce the same amount of albums as David ‘dye my hair orange and call me Ziggy’ Bowie. The controversial and predominately dance album, ‘Let’s Dance,’ was his staggering 23rd album by the time it was released in April 1983. Since the days of strong make up and new romantic themes twenty years before Boy George, Bowie had never ceased to stun, shock and amaze audiences across the world. Taking on various visual characters over the years, the famous of these being Ziggy Stardust and The Thin White Duke, it would have seemed that these guises were now far behind him and that what we ... BOREDOM, BOREDOM, BER-DUM BER-DUMMMM!!!! Oh hum, here we go now. Let's dance put on your red shoes and dance the blues Let's dance to the song they're playin' on the radio Let's sway while colour lights up your face Let's sway sway through the crowd to an empty space Yeah, okay so far, just about, let's see what else he can come up with. If you say run, I'll run with you If you say hide, we'll hide Because my love for you Would break my heart in two If you should fall Into my arms And tremble like a flower Ermmm, tremble like a flower? That's a bit ... Read the complete review

From a very early age I heard snippets of David Bowies music emanating from my brothers bedroom and right through to my late teen years I became increasingly enamored with his music to the point where I now have just about every track and album he ever released. Whilst my brothers music taste changed notably towards the heavy rock scene and beyond, my taste simply absorbed the newer sounds I was hearing resulting in a wide and vast appreciation of many styles of music ,David Bowie however stayed as one of my firm favorites right up until now , into my mid thirties. Although many of his albums impress upon me as the best of his music this album stays closest to ... Read the complete review

Why, oh why, oh why? David you didn't have to do it. Why didn't you stay away forever? This piece of nonsense was an insult to what the man had done before - inferior, bland, pop pap which should have been consigned to the bargain bins before it was released. It sported the three hit singles Let's Dance, China Girl and Modern Love and they're all music by numbers, pop trash which is flimsy and easily (or I wish it could be) forgotten. The album marked Bowie's move from RCA to a whole new world of pop colours with EMI and also a period in the wilderness for him. Grit your teeth and steadfastly ignore this album - ...
