The Dead Presidents are an underground Hip Hop group from Florida. They are very alternative for their gene as they explore themes many would not dare go into. They give an 'in-your-face' approach to educating people on politics, racism and religion, despite the fact the duo are atheists. What they are also known as, dead prez, is written without capital letters for a reason although I cannot remember exactly, I think it was something along the lines of them just being one of many, they are not special, so why should special characters be used for their name. dead prez are said to be "somewhere between N.W.A and P.E. (Public Enemy)". So if you think ... Read the complete review

Dead Prez are a bitter duo. The most message-based album in a long old while, the preaching pair-up of Sticman and M1 are in no doubts who is to blame for the world's current state, and they ain't afraid to disseminate who the culprits are. 'Let's Get free is the remarkable result, and you will listen to what they have to say. Those expecting out and out blazers like 'Hip Hop' are in for a culture shock and a serious lesson in freedom of speech as the duo leave no issue isolated. Negativity isn't totally dominant, but lamenting and pointing fingers at the powers that be comprehensively teach the uninitiated in a current affairs news ... Read the complete review

Dead Prez This isn’t so much an album as a political manifesto. As members of the Uhura political movement (taken from Nvota Uhura of Star Wars) Stickman an M1 oppose capitalism and lie the blame for the plight of the black people of America squarely at it’s feet. On a superficial level the album is slick; laid back vibes, neat twisting raps and cool funky beats. But behind their glossy raps and flowing rhymes, a stern political message is delivered with all the impact and fury of KRS1. As a hip hop album it excels, as a lesson in ‘alternative’ American history it's enlightening and for radical ideas, (check out their tirade against the ... Read the complete review

Dead Prez come with a message and they aren't shy about it either. Their first major release "Let's Get Free" is about alot of things. Black people being treated fairly, children being educated properly, capitalism.. you name it they've probably addressed it with this album. Although from a quick listen they may seem straight up racist but after a few listens you start to agree with everything they say. Stic.man and M1 also manage to do all this with great rhymes, one liners and a message to make any listener sit up and pay attention. There's no easing into this album it goes straight at it from the get go. All that was needed to make ... Read the complete review

Dead Prez - Lets Get Free Do you ever remember the time when music spoke to you? It told you about your world, the life on the street. You see not many bands do that anymore, Oasis, Blur, Steps - what do they say about your life. Dead Prez are a hip hop act that speaks to the people, taking the politics of the revolutionary 60's political movement the Black Panthers and teaching the new generation about their history. Hip Hop in recent years has too often been pandering to what the white middle class would want them to be, gang banging homies with b**ches on the arm or a jokey comedy act like Will Smith. It comes as no coincidence that Tupac was ... Read the complete review
