Premium Review Levellers - Levellers: Self-titled third Levellers album (219 words)

Rating:

After the amazing Weapon Called the Word and Levelling the Land, it's no surprise that the third self-titled album proved to be a difficult one for the Levellers. However, that's not to say that there aren't some cracking tunes and impassioned instrumentalism. The first half of the album is full of gems which have been re-visited of late during the Leveller's plentiful live gigs. Levellers, The Levellers. This was the Levellers third album. The Levellers, by the time this had been released, had been a band for nearly five years, though their original vocalist left after album number 1, they were certainly getting well known outside of the punky/celtic/festival scene that was their origins. I certainly remember seeing them in London in 1990 and they had built up quite a following of students, squatters and festival goers. It is almost like they have ...  Read the complete review

Great album, fantastic group. None

Some great, bouncy cheesypopmetal It was produced by EMI, without the band's input

Atmospheric You may not like the style

Their most complete recording yet, a good progression of Without You I'm Nothing A couple of the singles stink bad, including Meds which was a poor opening song

Great Cohesion, production and songs I'd have liked more tracks on the album

You get 2 Cd's for the price of one Have stereophonics lost the edge they once had

Miles Gurtu - Robert Miles & Trilok Gurtu
A blend of intricate beats, varied jazzy melodies and experimental soundscapes. Over-tweaking disrupts the ambience occasionally. No mainstream appeal. Some tracks don't work.

The Boy Who Knew Too Much - Mika
great variety of music used, to some listeners it won't match his debut, very similar to his last record

Bottled At Source - The Best Of The Source Years - Turin Brakes
A great album of rare and unreleased material with a "best of" compilation attached. None to speak of. Lyrics in the sleeve notes would have been a good addition.

Shakedown 2 - Freemasons
It's, like, totally cool None - it's one of the best albums I've ever bought

Classic Rosza score finally done justice with impeccably fantastic re-recording Sticklers will still find things to pack apart, but this is one of the best re-recordings thus far
