... singing comes in its not a too bad song, however like most the songs on this album its just too hardcore and there not a band that can really pull it off so its probably for the best they went down the softer punk route. Mr Jones is another song that isn't too bad, again not a great intro to the song with silly little guitar bits which just fail to fit together and stay relevant to the rest of the song, however when it gets going the guitar gets better and is mostly well written and the versus aren't too bad. ...more

Liberal Animation - NOFX: liberal dissapointment (355 words)

Rating:

Liberal animation was the debut album from the American punk band nofx. It was released in 1988 and then later re released under there new record label. The album itself isn't really that good, especially when compared to their later releases however there are some indications of what could be for this band when they get it right, and in later albums they did just that. The first song off the album shut up already is probably the strongest off the album, I don't particularly like the intro with the silly instruments however once the singing comes in its not a too bad song, however like most the songs on this album its just too hardcore and there not a band ...  Read the complete review

NOFX: When they were crap (161 words)
by Brendan - written on 05/07/07
Rating:

Recently I bought this NOFX because of classic tracks such as "Shut Up Already" and "Mr Jones". But alot of the album is really awful, exspecially "A200 Club" and "Sloppy English". Though it doesn't have many good tracks, there is two other classics other than the ones I mentioned at the start of the review. I would reccomend this cd to the hardcore NOFX fans and people who like hardcore punk. If you are neither don't buy this album but if you buy it don't expect it to be any good. Shut Up Already 9/10 Freedumb 8/10 Here Comes The Neighborhood 3/10 A200 Club ...  Read the complete review

Liberal Animation - NOFX: Not SO good. (151 words)

Rating:

This was one of NOFX's first albums and it is not very good. It's kind of sucky actually. I never thought I would say this about a NOFX album but it is very harsh on the ears. Mike hadn't developed the skill of singing on this album and some of it is bordering on thrash. There are still some excellent riffs lurking around but the drums have to much reverb on them. It is high speed stuff but there is little melody or phrase structure. This album was before the masterful musician El Hefe joined the band so there is no trumpet, no whiny guitars and generally no variation. This was the old style NOFX before Mike and Co. discovered there new ...  Read the complete review
