Advantages: Great Lyrics, Amazing Band and Music Produced is Very Good
Disadvantages: Not Like Previous Albums, Taken On A Pop Aspect
The lostprophets are a welsh, alternative/metal band that were formed in 1997. They have produced quite a few demos, three albumns and roughly 10 singles in their band career. This album compared to their others is a little more downbeat and light hearted, with not the alternative rock and metal genre they are renowned for. In spite of this the album still has some great songs and music.
When i bought the album i expected it to be metal, with some heavy rhythms and guitar, as Bob Rock had enlisted the band (Who was responsible for several metallica albums, possibly one of the greatest metal bands of all time.)
BAND MEMBERS
Ian Watkins (Vocals)
Stuart Richardson (Bass)
Lee Glaze (Lead Guitar)
Mike Lewis (Rhythm Guitar)
Jamie Oliver (Turn Tables)
Mike Chiplin (Drums)
I Think thats all the band members, but im not sure so i'm sorry i've got it wrong.

The album starts off with a great song, 'Everyday combat' that really shows what the band is all about with a good drum intro which is maybe a little confused amongst other instruments, but then the song really gets going. The lead guitar and vocals are very impressive, with a catchy chorus and some great drumming.
The next couple of songs, 'A Town Called Hypocrisy' and 'The New Transmission' are still great songs on the album but just dont quite live up to 'Everyday combat' and feel as if they are slowly weakening. Both start withgood intros on guitar, (possibly a little bit computorized), but as both develop they start to weaken and fade out towards the end.
Track 4, 'Rooftops' is one of the best songs on the album and the catchiest. The calming intro is nice to hear on the ears and the singing is very relaxing, although a bit a bit 'pop', not what the band are renowned for. As the song progresses, it does get faster and the drums come in, with complex guitar and good vocal range. One of the best songs.
The next three songs get weaker and weaker, and although they have great parts in all of them, with fantastic guitar playing and vocals, they just dont live up to the bands other albums and what the band is renowned for. I personally do love, 'Can't Catch Tomorrow' and 'Everybody's Screaming' with great song writing, and they were amazing performed live.
The rest of the album is the downfall, compared to the first 7 songs, and slowly gets repetitive and tiring. Throughout the album there are some fantastic songs.
OVERALL
Overall the album is good, with fantastic music and lyrics, and all the songs are performed and executed brilliantly. The album contains a mix of rock, metal and pop but all of these aspects make it a real enjoy to listen to.
I would reccomend the album to lots of people as it can fit most catagories of genres and at onlyabout £6 it is a good buy. The only dissapointment is the pop-like attidude of the band, reflecting in the music and lyrics.
Good album though
Summary: Good album
